Now if I can just talk the goofy things into laying eggs. . .

Luvz, so sorry to hear of the layoff, I have been laid off twice from factory jobs and it's extremely frustrating.

Welcome Jack T.

Cammie, sent you a pm. Hope you get your house, if not, I bet we can find you another one!

I got on here to tell you guys one of the perks of my job!! I'm a school custodian, anyway, today I made an agreement with the ag teachers to take their baby chicks and ducks after they are through with them in class!! I'm getting 10 chicks and 6 peking ducks. Don't know what kind of chicks other than they will be straight run!! I can't wait!!

Uhh, right now we have two of the black and white ones and one of the red ones. Wanted chickens for awhile, but couldn't stand the thought of chickens running loose in the yard. . .and then we discovered the chicken tractor! Woohoo!

*I* don't. That picture was taken by the gentleman I got all the setup from. He had several beds, and he would rotate the tractor among them. I had planned on just using his tractor design. . .but we did some trading and I ended up with his whole outfit.

It just keeps getting more complicated.

Looks like we won't be able to move until the end of the year, when we sell calves.

The bank doesn't like that we have cattle...

So if anyone would like to donate a $1000 or two...

Clark's selling a '69 Chevy pickup that he was working on building, with extra parts and stuff. So if anyone knows someone that likes to build cars...

Foghorn, I got your PM. My fiance says he knows who you are, he worked at the high school for a while. I doubt my dad knows who you're talking about, but maybe my Grandma does. She still lives in Cement.

Grace, aren't you glad chickens and boys are your only worries.

so he is happy roo in charge of 3 girls..........thanks again.
Sorry to hear about your move being postponed, but as I have certainly learned with the move I just made.............all in HIS timing.......it is best....I couldn't be happier now.and it seemed so very difficult to wait as long as I did........ I am so glad I did now....... so things will happen for you both at the right time.....I do believe that !

well everything does not seem so horrible now his severence package will pay off both of our vehicles with enough to spare until he gets another job, I told him even if he gets another job before the shop closes I want him to take a wekk or 2 to regroup because he will not get a vacation at a new job for at least a year. My main worry is about medical insurnce however last year we paid 6800 for insurance and our HSA so I am calling my kids doctor and trying to get them an early appt for their next scheduled checkup. and maybe my husband could work days and we may actually have a semi normal home life. Just stinks that they can come in one week and shake hands and give everyone kudos and bonus for safety and production then screw you the next week. My husband mentioned transfering in the company however I don't wanna move to Texas my other 3 kids are here and my grandmother has Parkinsons and his grandmother is 86 but a spitfire but we do all of her driving if she can not take the bus. My hubbie did say that if we do move all my chicky babies can go with. But dam we just bought our house in August and had to put in a new AC unit and some other smaller repairs but that added up.

Welcome to the group Chickenhead. I added your name to the list. Please jump in and lets talk chickens. What kind do you raise? Do you know Bill Braden? He is a renowned breeder and lives near Salina. Is the Chouteau auction the Chupps auction? I have heard of that one but have never been.
Good to have you here with us.

Buckguy

Please add me to your list of Okies. I live in Tuttle on 5 acres and currently have Brabanter, Spitzhauben, Silkie and Jersey Giant chickens, and have just bought Ameraucana and Marans eggs to add to my incubator.

Other pets include 4 cats & 5 dogs (all from animal shelters), 9 white guineas, and too many to count goldfish and koi.

Raising chickens is lots of fun! This is just my 3rd year with chickens. I grew up as a city girl but finally found my dream home (old farm house on 5 acres with big old barn).
