What Jer-man said!

Quenston - thanks for the update - be excited but don't stress about the show. Don't forget...they're just chickens!!
(don't tell anyone I said that.)

Guess it's just us..............LOL

I thought about Sooner early this morning. Was 31o and
light rain. Hope everyone made it without any slipping
and sliding. Should have warmed up pretty quickly.

Go figure......the stupid speech teacher cancelled the
competition trip about 6:30 last night.

Pa-Pa
felt sorry for us and took us out for Mexican last
night. But, actually, am not ready for that big a
venture yet.

So, if anyone has their laptop down there, check in
and let us know how it's going. Sounds like there
are fewer birds than there was last year. Hope
everyone placed, got everything they wanted, and sold
everything they wanted to sell. Did luck out and
sold 35 or 36 birds yesterday....will sure help the
feed bill.....

Have a safe trip home everybody !

Hey guys!

Our friends left at 2:00 this afternoon... I have been cleaning since then....That's better than going to Shawnee.... Isn't it?

We actually had a lot of fun....

I had this hugepile of pumpkins on my patio...all of a sudden they went soft...I was like what the heck? Then I realized they froze....I chopped up 3 big ones and 1 little one....hens all have orange lips....

ETA: Can hens eat that decorative corn from fall? My first thought is probably not since it is so hard... but then I thought...so is the corn in their scratch?

Well I spent the day cleaning house and bathing the house chickens. I also did a lot of thinking. I was wondring what Roy found for me. I hope he found "something" that I would like.

After looking at the EEs and Serama chick, I decided that they looked really nasty and I thought I would try to bathe a chicken for the first time. They all did really good during the bath. The Serama actually loved taking a bath and getting blow dried. She just laid there and went to sleep. I guess she found it relaxing.

When I got done bathing and blow drying all four "nasty" bird, I realized that they weren't actually that dirty. Their feathers have started changing colors.

My Serama is actually black and white. The base of her feathers are black and about halfway down the shaft, they turn white. So all of the undercoat is dark and the top coat is light. It makes for a really cool effect, especially when she was wet.

My white EE pullet is turning red. I thought she was just really dirty because she has been sick. The feathers around her head and neck are turning a light red color and the rest of her body is white.

The blue EE pullet is just gorgeous after her bath. She looks so pretty with her pea comb and green legs.

The white EE cockeral is getting black spots on his back. Is it normal for a cockeral to have hanging tail feathers? His tail curls around under him instead of up. I know certain breeds are like that, but I'm not sure about EEs. He actually looks rumpless, but after examination during his bath, I realized his tail feathers just go down.

Hey all, Just got a minute. Getting ready to go on the anniversary date in a few.
I had a blast at Shawnee but my feets are vewy vewy tired.
We had about 20 for the lunch meetup.
I think we had 51 from our group there not counting the out of state folks I don't know and didn't get to meet.
Its always great seeing everyone.
I only got one bird but he is gorgeous. Got him from Cubanlongtails.
Got some leads on other birds for later.
Hope all is well with everyone. I am sure others will post more later.

Oh yeah, if Monty hadn't seen me, I'd've had no idea where y'all were... I was lost in the center, wandering around with J and trying to talk him into talking myself into larger birds. I fell in love with those huge English buff orps, heck even liked the black ones too!

I sold five of my extra birds (Neecy, yours are safe-and-sound with Q

). Bought some neat supplies and goodies. Didn't buy a single bird! Won several awards from my new favorite club - the American Silkie Breeders Club
smile.png
. Talked to old friends. Talked to young friends (

). Made new friends. Visited with breeders who are much more experienced than I am. And just had a great time!

I missed talking to several folks. It was fun to watch a couple of folks loading up. Cuban went home with a full truck and Teach had much less on his trailer when he left. I hope that Osukrazykate makes it home without having any leakage of the silkies through the cage and past the barrier she put on the seat of the truck. Let it be known that I only came home with an extra cage, an aloe vera plant from Carla and some cool books and raffle prizes.
