Wanna know what's embarassing? (I'm really good at telling tales on myself).

I walked down to the henhouse and realized 1) it's WAY overdue for a good cleaning PEWWWW! and 2) Now I know why I'm not getting all that many eggs. I'm only getting about 5 eggs a day out of 18 chickens. Today, I realized - Dang! I've got five roos in there! I knew my daughter had a roo in there - One Eyed Jack is some sort of black looking roo. Big Daddy is a RIR cross. But - three of the five Buff Orpington pullets I bought when they were four months old are Roosters!

I don't get to get down to the henhouse as much as I would like - it's dark when I leave for work and dark when I get back home. DH takes care of them most of the time. We bought the pullets from a breeder who was selling pullets. One would assume that someone who had been breeding chickens as long as she had would know a pullet from a rooster. Oh well - live and learn. Now we have to decide what to do with the stupid things!

I haven't processed a chicken since I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, and I'm not sure I'm ready for that experience again...

I never learned how to fish. Is it any fun?

Oh, heck yeah. It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

I don't know about that...

Yes! She is! I'm really impressed with how pretty & big my blue laced red wyandottes are. I think they may be the prettiest of all my birds. I bought mine as hatching eggs at the Jones auction last year. Now finally getting some eggs from the pullets, so I may have some eggs & chicks available this spring if anyone is interested.

Yep, you definitely need to go to Blanchard this spring. Surely you can talk your DH into coming along. Even if he's not a chicken lover, he'd surely enjoy visiting with us, or maybe even the spouses that lovingly choose to put up with us!

I eat all kinds of fish, the taste of fish is all in how it is cleaned and prepared!!! As far as catfish alot of people wont and dont cut the mud line out or the dark meat out and that will ruin the taste of a catfish.

Stimpy I have never fly fished in my life I would love to but never have learned. Maybe you could give me a lesson some time.

Q, I don't eat catfish because it's not kosher. Old training dies hard. I don't eat pork for the same reason... and we shall not go into the fact that I'm not religious.

Faerie what you do is to fillet the fish which is a fancy way to say you skin them. That leaves you with a boneless slab of meat and with a little practice doesn't take as long as scaling them.

As far as just having fun I like to go after Carp and Gar with light tackle.

Yea me... it was getting to be an eyesore since we had been using the back for our cutting on the pantry stuff... which I might say is coming along nicely... i was hoping to have had it fully finished this weekend but we realized we didnt have enough building materials as originally thought... funny though its not like this pantry is some big ol fancy shin dig...lol
