Hello fellow okies! I have been trying to keep up with all of your guys chatter, but I am behind and will need to get onto some homework here soon. I have a lab tonight and need to have the homework done, uggg. I am debating on going to the Blanchard auction this Saturday after Chars basketball game. I notice everybody is also talking about POOPS do we have a date set yet for POOPS and where it will be located?

I have heard if you hang cd's in your fruit trees it would keep birds from eating your fruit, but that is all I have heard about the hanging CD's outdoors. Hmmm, let me know if it works, bcs we have lots of hawks that taunt me. I can hear one right now. I am sure people think I am crazy around here when I go running outside yelling into the air at these darn hawks trying to chase them away.

I don't remember exactly but I paid around $7 or $8 for a 50lb bag of scratch from Tractor and supply in Stillwater. If you buy in bulk, which only takes 20 bags and it can be a mix of different types of feed, they give you a 10% discount too. I have bought 5 bags of starter and 10 bags of layer and 10 bags of scratch and got the bulk discount of 10%. I think they would have also included bags of dog food as part of the 20 too or rabbit food or what have you, but I am not for certain on that. I will have to ask next time. Oh speaking of rabbit food, I have a friend who feeds her chickens rabbit food, has anybody else heard of this.
Kate,
Rabbit food is okay, but it also tends to be higher in salt content than regular chicken feed. Just make sure the chickens always have water available to them. If you are feeding solely a diet of rabbit food, in my opinion you would also need to supplement some sort of animal protein source. Chickens are omnivores, not herbivores. They aren't like humans who make conscious decisions to be vegetarians.
I'm gonna leave it at that before I start off on a rant.

Cuban,
I myself don't use rabbit food, but thought it was interesting that my friend was feeding it when I went over to take care of her chickens while she was out of town. And she doesn't have rabbits either. However, she is from Thailand so I don't know if she was confused when buying it or just knew something I didn't.
