Not sure if this is allowed but we have a AMBER ALERT for OKLAHOMA

Please get the word out and bring this girl to safety

Authorities have just issued an amber alert right here in Texoma for a missing 8-year-old girl whose mother was found dead inside a home in Geronimo, Oklahoma.

The Comanche County sheriff's office is searching for 8-year-old Aja Jotson, who is believed to be with a man wanted for questioning in the woman's death.

Authorities say 47-year-old Lester Hobbs is driving a 1992 Toyota Paseo with the Oklahoma license plate number 577-BPW.

Hobbs may be headed toward Davenport, Oklahoma. He is not the girl's father.

I feel for you. That chicken is so ugly it's actually cute! Hope your day gets better.

I agree with the ugly part, but I'm not so sure it's cute!

Good Morning Everyone,

Just finished reading Joel Salatin's book "Pastured Poultry Profits", it's a good read and contains great information on a meat bird raising model that can be used to make some cash if one has a mind to. That's not our plan. What we want to do is raise our own meat birds for our freezer, the info in this book can also be applied to that. The only thing is we don't want to process the birds ourselves, so I'm searching for a processor in the Claremore area, if anyone knows of one please let me know. I'll be ordering my cornish rocks soon.

Called Smith Poultry Supply this morning and ordered leg bands for my show birds. Soon as they get here I'll fill out the entry form for the March 6th show in Pryor and get that sent in. Hope to see a bunch of you at this show, it's a bantam only event but I know a lot of you have bantams so show'um!

Other than that, most of my show birds in the breeding pens are laying. I put the first set of eggs in the incubator yesterday & will set new rounds every week, the first hatch will be on Feb 13th & I should have a hatch every week after that, if all goes as planned. Not sure, seems like we might have to hunker down for another cold blast, it's windy and cold here today & I'm not sure my giels will continue to lay if it stays cold.

Went to Atwoods yesterday and bought two more paper shell pecan trees, gotta get those in the ground soon, maybe this afternoon. Also bought all my seeds for this years garden, planting is supposed to start on Feb 13th but I dunno, seems kind of ambitious considering how wet the ground is out there. I have one of those super-duper Honda tillers (it's an AWESOME machine!) but I can't run it until the ground dries out. So, like last year we'll probably end up planting late... again.

Hope everyone has a great day, stay warm!

Matt

Our ground is pretty sloppy too try to move some old dirt filled with sheep pooh and everything else under the loafing shed and it really got messy and not in a great way either now it looks like a swamp... I bought my heirloom seeds last year and like you cant wait to plant... Still need to pick up some fruit trees though and get them in the ground...

I need to get a copy of the farmers' almanac, I never remember to get it and then I spend time kicking myself for not knowing what's going on.

I need to prep my raised beds... gotta move them from where they're at, and that is a bundle of work... but one of them is in the way of where I want to put a shed and the other two are too far away from the house, making watering them a really tough proposition. But it's gotta be done. Also need to get started on making the indoor lettuce beds... so tired of losing my salads when the heat spikes (even if it's just a 1 day spike, a lot of my lettuces will bolt). Trying to figure out a way to construct a long bed for lettuce, will probably have to hang a grow bulb over it.

I need to borrow a tiller when it gets a bit dryer... I want to try a square foot garden without a raised bed. I don't have the $ for any more raised beds, and buying dirt is expensive. I think I might be able to get some compost for somewhere, but I'd have to talk fast to get J to agree to hauling dirt in his truck.

Hey Keith........... ya doin ok ??. I think for the most part the auction folks are doing a fine job, I for one wouldn't want anymore consideration than we already get, I think they already have done more than enough I know most people are just joking about tables up front and such.

I pulled a little trick on my Daughter Alyssa when I got back from the auction it was really foggy outside so I parked my truck close to her bedroom window, she tends to sleep in too late on the weekends and I thought that Rooster would wake her up. Man did I get an ear full at 6:00am LOL that rooster crowed all morning LOL.

AL

Al,

Yeah, I was teasing about the auctions. I don't really believe that anyone, including our group, deserves any special consideration. Although a discount would be appreciated. Before you know it tho, people who pay cash would want special considerations above those who pay by check. We wouldn't want that. I guess it won't hurt us to stand up once in a while to see what's on the block and place a bid.

Yeah, I meant to tell you that rooster loves to hear his own voice. I think he gets that from my wife (if I want her to know that I said that, I'LL tell her). I also think I misunderstood you when we were talking about the eggs. I'm getting about ten eggs per day, so it didn't take long to gather 4 dozen to go in the incubator. I've never tried to hatch anything over about eight days old. I don't know what kind of hatching rates I'd get.

Hey y'all that are planning to show at Pryor.....
Get those entries in. Bill talked to Kenny a couple
of evenings ago and he's already gotten a bunch
of them in. They say that they are "strictly" holding
it to 500 birds.

Gees, am sure you've seen the weather.......
Snow is one thing, but ice is another......
Looks like from SW of OKC clear up through
NE OK is in for a major ice event. So, will
be swapping lists from "need to do" to
"Na-Na, you better get 'er done NOW"....
even to having to make TJ wait until after
his birthday for his party at the skating rink.
That sucks at 11 !!!!! Thank God, he's a
good kid..................

Keep an eye to the skies.

Have a good one !

You can visit the farmers almanac online instead of buying one.. here is the link.... www.farmersalmanac.com

That is a very sad deal. I didn't know about it until this morning on the news. This little one lives less than two miles from my house, on the other side of I-44. I don't know what it is about these cowards who just can't take a woman leaving them, so if they can't have her, they kill her.

I hope they find her alive and well, at least physically. She will never be "well", though.
