Hey guys and gals,

How much you all selling your excess eggs for? I have alot of 18 count cartons that were gifted to me and I would like to sell the eggs in that count but would like to be reasonable with in pricing... main thing like alot of you is to sustain my family first than sell what is gifted in excess but not for a money making thing since it will go to cover feed and again even if that... Any suggestion?

Jeannie

Don I have to agree I hope you didnt take offense to that, matter of fact I think it is good for people to lose their way once in a while just so that they can come back and see what they have been missing and how much they enjoy it!!

The best thing I have found so far is Excedrin Sinus. The only problem is I can only find it in single use packs at a truck stop. I have some Mucinex but it doesn't seem to be helping. I have been taking Tylenol Severe Allergy and it helps some. Thank you for the advice.

For a cough and sore throat, I mix equal parts of honey, water, lemon juice and either bourbon or brandy. I add slivered almonds, then heat it all in the microwave. Drink it slowly as warm as you can and chew the almonds. Almonds have a tiny bit of arsenic in them, which is medicinal.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe microwaving the honey kills the part of honey that makes it beneficial. Do everything else, then, take a couple of spoonfuls of honey afterward.

I sell them for $2.50 per dozen, picked up at the house (don't have to pay sales tax on them that way)

If I was willing to take them to a farmer's market, I believe I could get more, but then I would also be incurring the expense of booth rental and my time to sit there.

Some of the folks on here have a formula for calculating the cost to feed enough hens to get a dozen eggs and as I recall, $2.50 is only slightly better than a break even point - and that is if you don't count the cost of initial purchase and raising them to the point of laying and the fact that you are feeding them even when they are not laying.

Well we had to cull one of our good hens today. She was a good layer and one of Big Boy's favorites. She laid an egg this morning and her intestines came with it. Anyone have a clue as to why this would happen. She hasn't acted sick and we seen her in the nest box everyday. I thought she was just having trouble laying an egg this morning until Jordan said she already laid one. I had put her in a sink of warm water when he told me this. It didn't take long before everything just fell out. About 30 seconds in warm water was all it took.
