Good evening everyone. It has been a long, but productive day. We got FIL's house almost completely cleaned out. All that is left is about on pickup load. Next we sget to start the tear down process. We already own the property and are going to use it to place a double-wide. I hope to have it done faitrly soon, but it will probably take some time to gather up the funds to buy a trailer. How is everyone else doing tonight?

Wow! That took like forever to catch-up!

I am COOL!!!

Thank you my people for recognizing this!

Now before someone comes along and knocks me off my good day...

We had our local show today...unfortunately the boy didn't have grand goat but i think we are sitting good for county...bigger classes with less weight difference will be better for us...our good goat is well...to big for his frame...he ain't fat just big. We also did not cut our hair...cold weather and such is not good for no hair.

On to other fronts...POOPS!!!!! COunt me and two young un's in...I will not make the mistake of bringing the mom again

Ok here is what you do. According to industry standards a brown egg layer will consume 4oz of feed daily.

take 50 x 16 to get how many ounces in a bag of feed. 40 if bought at Atwoods.

there are 800 ounces in a 50lb bag of feed.

I am going to use 10 dollars for the price of the feed, anyway you divide 10 by 800 which comes to .0125 which is what the feed costs per ounce.

Next take .0125 x 4 because the hen will eat about 4 oz. which is .05 or a nickle and if she lays daily that is what the egg will cost in feed.

Now I did say cost in feed, you still have water, equipment and labor to consider so 2.50 may be a good break-even for the small breeder. The big guys are automated so even though their equipment costs are higher their input costs for labor are much, much less and the equipment is figured for the life of the equipment.

Les...I think you are the smartest man on the earth. I don't know how you know so much about chickens and so many other things but I want to tell you how much I appreciate you and your knowledge. I've learned so much from you and you are always so willing to help anyone. And to top it off you're always so humble about it.

Thank you so much!

Shavon...we are in the process of cleaning my parents house out as you are. We're having a hard time doing it...makes me have to face the fact that both are gone...sure don't want to face it but it is getting easier. My heart goes out to you both.

Anyway, I finally got the guts to contact a mover to take a look at the house to tell us if we needed to tear it down or if it could be moved. The man said he couldn't pay us anything for it due to it being so old and the work that would need to be done to it. I asked him if he would move it just for getting the house and he agreed. He's also going to take a couple trees that need to be removed and move a square tubing carport for us that we want to make into a quail flight pen. We are so excited that the house will be set up somewhere else so we can still go and see it.

We are also going to replace it with a new double wide after we sell ours we live in now. They told us that the house couldn't be moved until almost summer due to how wet it is. I'm thinking that if this snow keeps up we may never get it moved. LOL

I was just amazed at how close our stories are. Good luck with your project.

We are supposed to start the day with frozen fog...not real sure I like the sound of that...then it should switch to at least 6" of snow...did I mention the wind should be blowing at a steady 30 mph...gusts will be of course higher. They said something about ice but I refused to listen. The copers had a big conference call about it. Folks like to tell me about bad roads...don't like me calling when I get stuck. They always mumble something about Texans...not real sure what that is all about...

Gotta go choke some food down...well at least feed the boys..apparently they got hungry after I worked them...me made feed! i have a new plan to mix my soybean meal in with syrup so it sticks to the other feed!
