Had a great time at Blanchard today. Talked Hubby into "riding along" earlier this afternoon, with the intention of getting my rabbits earlier in the line-up than if I waited and went about 3:30 as I usually do and then taking him home before the poultry auction. We got a front row seat about 1:45 and waited for the goat auction to start at 2:00 - and waited and waited until it began at 3:00. The only redeeming thing about the wait was that it gave me a chance to talk to Chiclooker and Buster52 for a little while - during the wait.
Hubby tried to pretend that he didn't know what was going to happen, but he knew that if the bottle goats went for a decent price, we would likely be going home with one. What he didn't know was that for $13 each we would be going home with two LaMancha bucklings. We hadn't brought a very large empty pet carrier (wasn't planning on buying goats) so we went ahead and took them home, gave them a bottle and went back to Blanchard. By the time we got back, the 5:00 poultry auction had started, someone else had taken the 3 tables that Jerry had originally reserved for the BYC group and we had a different table in the corner, which was surrounded by BYC folks visiting and having a good time.
THANK YOU Carla for the maran hatching eggs. I plugged the Sportsman in yesterday evening and checked the temperature when we got home this evening and it is right on the mark, so I will be putting all the eggs over into the Sportsman and using the Hovabator for hatching since it has a clear top. I love to watch chicks hatch.
Al, so glad that we finally got to meet Laura. She is beautiful inside and out. I wish that I had visited with her more, but I was too busy walking around to be sure I didn't miss the opportunity to bid on some things I didn't need (or win the bid for) and that my rabbits didn't go for just a few dollars.
The goats have had their bottles and I have cleaned up the linoleum from their "now that my tummy is full I need to poo and pee where I am standing" activity, so I am heading to bed.
