That sucks, but at least guys were able to come an understanding for the future and he is willing to pay for the damages. We lost 40 process-ready Cornish Crosse this winter to a neighbor's dogs. They didn't even come to apoligize. Of course their dogs never made it out of the pen. We have had previous run-ins with these dogs and they had a violent streak in them. One had tried to attack my DH in the past, so we took no chances.

Is your incubator not running? If not I would watch and wait. What I mean is actually wait with her until the baby pops out. This way the hen controls the temp and humidity. I would hate for you to pull it and it not make it out of the shell on its own. I would also hate if the hen is killing the babies and you left it alone. Personally I would sit and watch.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. I think she should leave it until it hatches, but then take it away. I personally would have me a little seat set up and just sit and watch. As soon as that baby was outta the shell, I would snatch it and take it inside.

They made it right, well, sorta. They paid a fair pullet price for all that were killed, but here's the thing... I raised them all winter and they were just hitting laying age, so what's the real lose?

just for giggles, let's say those 12 hens laid 5 dozen eggs a week and I sold them for $2 a dozen, that's $10 a week, 52 weeks in a year so that's $520 a year, say they do that for 2 years give or take so I figure that cur dog cost me $1000 minimum.

Shudda not done the math, now I'm mad again.

Matt I'm sorry you lost them! AT least the guy owned up to it & is paying something.

Chuck, glad to hear you are almost done & can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I know you will be ready to get settled in. Have you start moving your birds yet?

Hi everyone in Okieland!

I had a great day. Out of the eggs that had the unstable temps, I have 5 chicks. Not alot but better than nothing. I am giving them 24 more hours (per Bill).

How was your day & how is your hatching going??

Thanks for birthday wishes!

I have had a great day but never try and take a nap on your birthday....folks calling all day! And none of them my family!! Well except my nephew...little guy always beats me to the call...we share a birthday. Of course, my family kows that i am not usually home until now so...I ain't worried about them.

I am gonna borrow another sportsman cuz i have too dang many eggs sitting around and a guy came by and asked If I would hatch for him...I said yes..they are games...and i want some! Yuo should see the war horse hen he has....pretty nice!

I got most of my portfolio done...still need a little bit of help from someone that already has a paper done...

Yes, the japs were bantam. No, they didn't look like any kind of game. The nicer OEGB always do pretty good in Durant. Had they of been AGB I'm sure someone would of marked them as such. They might have been PQ japs. I know they didn't look anywhere close to the ones you see at the shows but they were getting around $15-20 a piece. There was probably 3 pairs that came thru. They were brought by different sellers.

Weird the eggs were going so low but most of the chickens were bringing more than usual.

Sorry MAllen to hear about your RIRs.

Well I wont say alot about my hatching because well the 4 dozen assorted maran eggs had a 0 hatch. I am going to have a word with the man that sold them at the auction, I know that he cant guarantee hatch rate but what is sad is I know I can hatch eggs and all the sudden 0?? What do you all think should I say something to him or just let it go? He announced at the auction he had great success with hatching but these eggs didnt even start to form!!!
