It is for that reason that I don't like to take our five year old grandson to poultry auctions. He is convinced we have to bring home some baby chicks - even if we have a bunch of them at home. Last year, we wound up paying about $4 per chick for six unidentified black chicks, because there wasn't any way we were leaving without them, unless we were willing to endure many tears from our grandson. We are wimps

Our grandson is convinced that he is the owner of all the baby animals born to our goats and llamas. I think that he just has naming rights

Yep Yep Yep. The one and only auction I took my 5 yr old grandson to had bunnies and bunnies and bunnies. He wanted them. Thank goodness I didnt have anywhere to put them and he did understand that part. BUT I told him next time Nanna will have a place and we can get some bunnies.

Actually, my 5 year old grandson loves to help me with the critter chores. I can get everything done in about 45 minutes without his help. WITH his help, it takes me about an hour and a half.

Names of classmates could be easier to remember than names like "fish" for one rabbit and "fish" for another rabbit. He has named several llamas "Bingo" and I have trouble remembering all the names he has given the goats.

If the curl in the tail is the deciding factor in identifying male runner ducks, I must have two males and one female. Sort of reminds me of the song we sang growing up - "Ten little duckies all in a row, wibble wabble wibble wabble to and fro, but the one little duckie with the feather in his back, HE ruled the others with his quack quack quack"

Naming baby goats?....That brings back some laughs around
here. We had 7 nubian nannies and all had kids. At that
time, TJ was learning to count in Spanish at school. So.......
we had Uno, Doce, Tres, Quatro, on and on. We didn't think
much of it until he hit the door one morning and, at the top
of his lungs, started calling them.........

TJ made it home from the circus, had a blast, and has already
shown Kendra that he can pick up the Langshans just fine.....
by himself........LOL I didn't figure it would take long.........

Have a good one !
