TJ's Na-Na :

So glad you all from the Muskogee area are posting.
Isn't Arrowhead Mall the one downtown? Is really
scarry to think that stuff like this has made it's
way to small cities and towns.

Still hatching some chicks, but about ready to shut
it down for the year.

TJ ended up #2 overall for Cherokee County at our
final local show last night. Considering the juniors
only get half-points for showmanship here, he did
really well. The girl that was #1 is 17, but she has
done a super job as well. He won another one of
the embroidered camp chairs and..........of all things...
an incubator !!!!!

Am sure everyone is enjoying this weather.

Have a good one !

Congratulations, TJ!

Eulaine, if he just won a new incubator, how can you even be thinking of not hatching anymore this year??

After being off since Friday afternoon, I just knew it would take me an hour to catch up, but I was surprised at how quiet it was this weekend. I had not heard about the shooting in Muskogee or the cattle rustling in Okarche unti I read it here first. Guess I sometimes need to read the newspaper or watch the news.

Another state bee conference is on the record books and another church blood drive has come and gone this weekend. Now I can start planning things regarding POOPS with more focused attention. If I had been able to find the energy to attend the Blanchard auction last night, I could have enjoyed spending time with 3 of my favorite hobbies this weekend. Bees, Blood drives and poultry.

The Fletcher auction is this coming weekend and I hope to see some of you there.

It has been really quite here this weekend. I am sure everyone is catching up on all the outside chores that have been put off. After waking up Sat at 11am I spent the entire day outside. I didn't come in till 7pm only to eat & get more chicks out of the incubator. I am having a great hatch. I did get alot done today. Today after going to services I came home to finish up what was started yesterday. I am so sore & tired I can't wait for dinner to be over so I can watch a movie & go to bed.

So much for being a "relaxing day off" for me. J and I apparently have VERY DIFFERENT ideas regarding relaxation.

But the ducklings have gone off to live with P&B now, so that's a positive thing to put on the accomplishment list today

Apparently ducks and Faeries don't much get along.

Good evening folks. We just got back from a birthday party for a 2 year old. It was a blast. We were there brought home my three new babies, little black and white bunnies. I will try to pics soon. Right now I just want to sit with my feet up. I also came home to a broody chicken. We decided to go ahead and leave today's eggs under her. I need to go and mark them, because she is in the one nest box that everyone wants to use.

Hi Everyone!

Just thought I would ninja post to let you all know I am still alive. Trying to get two papers finished before the end of the semester so maybe I can graduate this May.

It was weird reading about a shooting in Muskogee of all places. What the heck is wrong with people anyway? Well probably the same thing wrong there as every where else.

If you are looking for some cool chicks to tide you over til POOPS or even to sell at POOPS Atwoods has been getting in some interesting mix of chicks. I bought some silver laced polish crested and a white one in Chickasaw and yesterday I got two partridge cochin chicks and a white ???. Maybe you all could help me identify it. It is white, has a beard, feathered legs, willow colored legs but only 4 toes on each foot. At first I thought it was a sultan but not enough toes or a knobby head for the crest. It sure is cute though. If I have time I will post pictures this week.

Well it is off to bed since 5:45 am comes awfully early.
Have a great week everyone!

slow is an understatement

Well...I got stuff hatching so looks like the party will be fun!

I got a bunch of work done today...and showed off birds to friends..they couldn't believe what all I have...just wait till I add pheasants!!!

Hey all, just wanted to do a quick check in and say hi.
We got back from Southeastern OK. a little bit ago and got the wildernesss washed off.
Jared and I did our part to control the wild turkey menace by taking two of them off of the mountain.
Had a blast.
More later. I gotta go remove some more wilderness that is stuck to my skin.
Looks like ticks are more of a problem than the turkeys but not near as much fun to hunt or as good to eat.
I will catch up on here tomorrow.

That was something that was part of the first POOPS and actually I am not sure if that actually happened then. I think we ended up working a deal on the Klubhouse.
I have dealt with KOA a lot concerning POOPS and although I didn't always get my way they have always been friendly and courteous to me. They have a lot of people working there and probably some new ones too so maybe you just caught someone at a bad time.
No excuse for it though.
Thanks,
Monty

Good Morning Oklahoma!
The wind is blowing very gently, there is blue sky and it is almost 60 degrees going to past 75 today. Oh, What a Beautiful Morning, Oh What a Beautiful Day....

We can tell the weather is nice because there were no posts between Buckguy's last night at 10:40 pm and this one at 7 ish am. Our pens must be dry, the incubators must be hatching and we must be smiling and doing things other than visiting on the computer. No storms last night to track across the state as it hit each of us in turn......

I moved the newly hatched chicks from the house to the brooder in the shed last night. I was pleased that moving the previous occupants from the brooder to the unheated flight pen did not trigger a thunderstorm or a 40 degree drop in temperature that night, as is my usual luck with moving chicks out of the brooder.

I have 4 broody hens - two of which are in nest boxes and and consequently received eggs chosed and dated by me - and two of which selected their own locations . The Saipan in the barn now has a board slanted between the walkway and straw bales, to give her privacy. The bantam who set up shop beneath the llama's hay manger on about 2 dozen eggs of her own and anyone else wandering by - has straw bales shielding her from the llamas - and hubby hung a second manger in an adjoining pole barn for the llama's hay so they wouldn't accidentally step on the hen.

I emptied the sportsman last night of all the unhatched eggs that were set the 7th (pheasant and duck) and hen eggs set on the 15th and plan to transfer the half tray recently set turkey and duck eggs to a Hovabator this evening so that I can "play" with new wafer thermostats on the Sportsman. With less than a 10% hatch since I turned it on in January (?) it must be the thermostats that are causing problems since I have never changed them since I got it (Les - I know, I know - not a good practice)

Hope everyone has an uneventful day - unless of course the events are of the nice variety!
