headin that way tonight or tomorrow myself. I will be north of there though around honobia, after we go to the sale at durant. It will be the first time for me at that auction, gonna check it out see what all the fuss is about. I was under the impression ATVs were off limits to just about every where down there.

We still go to Honobia a few times a year. Deer season and Bigfoot hunts mostly. They're about to price us out of there tho. $40 a year is a bit high for a land use permit. For us, that's $240 before we ever start the bikes or leave the cabin. I can go a lot of different places for that kinda dough.

Hey we doing Pizza tonight or what? tee hee

Burning is going well have one pile of brush burning down and will be picking up the house here after I go check on our babies in the shop..

So far since we moved Raffle(duck) and the last and only mallard duckling we have from our hatchery order from inside the shop to the shop pen we built under the loafing shed they are both fairing well and seem happy we have them interacting with the FOO FOO POOP birds we acquired. Our white crested Dr Seuss ducks have begun laying us an egg each day.. tee hee

ATV's are still allowed on both Honobia Creek and 3 Rivers WMA's. There are just a lot more restrictions on 3 Rivers. The National Forrest is wide open. Trails you can't use are well marked and/or bermed off. I do a lot more riding than hunting any more. When they outlaw the ATV's down there, I won't go back.

Hey back, and thanks for your service. BTW I have fished the Mountain Fork many times myself. It is truly a beautiful area. Did we cross paths in the corps?
Take care,
Stew and K9 partner Ajo...

Who knows? Were you in Vietnam? I was also at Okinawa, Pendleton, El Toro, and Lejeune.

This was my first trip to the Mountain Fork, but it won't be my last.

Checked on silkie moms hatching babes this morning--mostly staggered hatch from four different first-time moms in one coop. They all nested on the floor as I hadn't planned to let them brood. This was a group of youngsters that grew up together. May have mentioned them before. Decided to let them brood because three of the moms and one of the cockerels were black/lav splits.

Getting one to three babes a day--until today. Heard a chick peeping under a mom, but found another, apparently dead outside the "nest." Picked it up and it was quite cold. No movement nor any sign of life. However, it was still a bit damp from hatching, and limp rather than stiff. It had pieces of pine chips all over it, and in its beak. Put it in the "personal brooder" on the way back to the house; still completely without life signs, but I had a hunch I should try to resuscitate it. Started the blow dryer, and after only a few seconds, its little wing moved. I'm the Monday hostess at the Sr. Center, so I put it back in my "personal brooder" and took it with me. It perked up completely, and appears very much alive. Talked a lot to me all morning.

Got home a bit ago and four others had hatched, with another on the way. These four moms have so far hatched out 30 live babes and one that I didn't catch in time. They are still hatching babes. There are two whites, three lavs, a few blacks with white wingtips, (one of the moms is white), and the rest are mostly dark blues, but a couple are a pretty medium blue. Most of thee babes have high vaulted skulls and perfect toes.

Can you tell I'm excited!

And, my lavender pullet in with a lavender cockerel laid her second egg today!

i understand both sides of the argument, i understand that for those who are less able then others it allows them to access some of the sights and areas. But i also have a house down there and since they started restricting certain areas it doesnt sound like i am ringside at one of those lumberjack competitions.

Did you grow up in that area?
