I have blue kote & scarlet oil, also witch hazel...

We soaked him in warm saline water with some ivory soap and scrubbed as best we could. I cut clumps of feathers off where i could.

Aweful... I'd never seen that before. In fact i thought he was dead, until i got closer and realized he was still breathing. I would like to put something on him to keep the flies away, and hopefully kill any eggs we missed. If he lives through the night...

thanks for the responses! I'll check on the wormwood & blue lotion, might be handy to have on hand anyhow.

There's a GQF Cabinet incubator on Craig's List (Oklahoma City) if anyone's looking. It's a model 1202. I bought the 1502 this afternoon. Both were in great shape, but the 1502 was what I really wanted. Here's the link

My POOPS hatchlings are doing well. Some of the Ameraucanas are cannon-ball jumping off the food dish into the pile of sleepy heads. They must be boys. DH made me promise I wouldn't fill the 1502 until all my new babies are assigned to breeding groups or are off to new homes. I think that means I won't be setting a big hatch until February.

There is a spray that can be bought for the control of the bot flies larve which is used after de-horning cattle but I don't remember what it is called. Ask an old-timer at the CO-OP in the morning what they used for screw worms.

I need the Francis Clan to come to my house. I've got tons of materials and ideas, but my cutting an assembling anything straight needs major work.

Would hydrogen peroxide bubble out any leftover nasties. I use tons of it on the kids to clean and prevent infections from minor to major wounds. I've even used it to clean out a majorly infected knee (gross, but had it significantly cleaned out by the time we got to the Dr.) and when the youngest almost cut her thumb off and nobody had any betadine.

Found an abandoned nest of muddy guinea eggs yesterday and a nest in the flower bed that looks like one of the guinea hens may be getting ready to set it. At least I know the guineas are laying, since I have been unsuccessful finding more than one egg at a time prior to yesterday. Have two Narragansett hens setting on nests. The other Narragansett hen is laying her egg on the chicken wire on top of the flight pen most evenings. Unfortunately, my success rate at retrieving them without breaking them is less than 50%

. Spent about 2 hrs doing chores in the coop today, went in to just feed and water after a long day then ended up cleaning waterers, feeders, brooders, some pen's, and alot of misc. It helps me unwind in a weird sort of way, I felt better by the time I finished

. I was hoping to be finished with my current job by Friday an exterior siding job, but after the tear-out we found lot's of termite damage and more extensive work, that means the new job that is supposed to start on Monday will be delayed by One more week

I hate delays and having to tell this home owner the cost just went up..................

I am due to move eggs to the hatcher on Thurs and hoping for a good hatch.
