I communicated with Terry Britt today. He is the coordinator for the Tulsa State Fair Show and the Shawnee show. He is also a licensed show judge and a Hall of Fame Exhibitor.
I had asked him about anything our group could do to help with the shows and he said as we get closer for the National and State shows at Shawnee that he would need volunteers for several things.
He also said that this an officer election year for the board that puts on the Shawnee show and they are looking for people that might want to serve on the board.
And last but certainly not the least, he has several show birds for sale. I know these are some of the best quality birds around so if anyone is interested send me a PM and I will pass along the info.

Dad is doing well but the surgery took longer than anticipated...once they got in there things did not go according to the plan they had told us... that they would make a small incision on his right side and take out the spot only about two inches. Once in there though they realized that the dye that they used to mark the spot was not there and there was not just one spot but two. Needless to say they had to make another bigger incision and remove 3-4 feet of his colon. They said the bigger spot was bigger than they originally thought but were confident they had clean margins around it and things should be fine. They reconnected everything and when I left he was resting. Now we are just hoping that there won't be any infection or other complications....my dad is 70 so who knows. Thank you all for your prayers.
I will be lurking on here need to eat, drink some coffee and feed the critters.

I've heard a lot of people recommend at least 1 square foot per bird. I keep mine in dirt flight pens with access to a indoor area in a coop, but most people keep them on wire. They can get stinky and are very messy with their food and water, so make sure your set-up is easy to clean. Drip pans or a bottom that allows droppings to fall straight to the ground seem to be the preferred systems. BYC has a forum for just quail that has loads of good info on keeping them.
OMG - the school district's new powerful filter hasn't blocked BYC (yet).
I was able to check in during my 30 min. lunch - nice break, but I forgot my password so I was only able to read, not post.
Well the first category in the McMurray Hatchery chicken photo contest has been judged by their staff and has moved into the semi-finals. I got one picture that far
