They are doing great, Al. I haven't weighed them but they are running two and three times the size of my Cornish/Delaware cross hatched on the same day. Nice plump little beasties. The plan is to have order forms and literature on the Ranger, maybe pics from JM Hatchery to show folks what they will look like grown. Might bring my Bourbon Red tom to attract attention. I already have three customers from the market just by word of mouth without even setting up a booth. And the main egg guy there is anxious for me to get started because he has people asking him every week. He tells them he will sell them, but they have to process them themselves. That pretty much ends the conversation right there.

Haven't decided on a price, which is why I was asking MMP about his prices. DW wants to charge $2 a pound, but that seems low for the local market, which seems to be running at $3 and up.

Its lunch time

Kids and I are busy working on our indoor fall clean up...

Have the Sumo chicks outside in the sun (with a lil shade if they want it) they seem more lively if we have them outside with their cage on the grass in the sun then just keeping them in the house all day with the heat lamp... I am sure that makes for happy chicks anyways.

Jason and I are going to wait on the guineas and just keep the numbers on our place with poultry and fowl just as they are.... We tore down a barb wire fence that was running along a small section of our place where the previous owners kept their sheep... We mowed down the garden and have started the task of clean up once again... Our neighbor is allowing us to borrow his old chevy dump truck(we are talking REALLY OLD) to haul off any debris and trash we come across which I am sure will be plenty...

Whats everyone else doing this fine Labor Day.... Day?

Any sign of respiratory issues...rattling, coughing, nasal discharge? since you didn't mention it probably not....If there is I would say upper respiratory infection...if not I would say some form of conjunctivitis maybe...simply inflammation of the eye or eyelid. but I'm not an expert....My book says give some vitamin A and inspect litter so see if it is wet or has an ammonia odor ...Just throwing our suggestions

No coughing or trouble breathing that I've seen, I've been checking on her often and other than her eye she seems fine

Bill - try using the BYC search bar up on the right-hand side there. If you put the symptoms in, you'll get (tons of) threads on BYC and lots of advice on how to treat. Of course, someOkie will come along shortly with the advice - and I always learn a lot from searching.

Thanks CityClucks, I know there is a wealth of knowledge on this thread figured I'd start here but I will do a search also

Yes Buster I was looking at the right card it's not the sort of flick you would expect having a Bunny and Coeds in it LOL

This is probably the most I will acomplish today Just thought I'd share even though there isn't any chicken in it but it sure is looking good, Mmm Mmmm..

BUSTER!!! Yes, you're right - I AM yelling at you! Because of you, Mr. Jim (as well as many others on here who if I tried to name I couldn't get them all and I'd leave someone out), I spent an hour today picking gosh-golly-dang black walnuts off the ground from the three big trees on my place. I've always been told they're difficult to process, but I'm going to try, which will surely cut into the time I'd planned to spend laying on the sofa reading trashy novels, eating bon-bons and watching reality-show television. I'm blaming you for the interruption of my laziness, Buster - because if you are going to talk about doing something useful with those turtles you're catching, I'm going to figure out what to do with my own little citified pain-in-the-neck-but-has-some-usefulness item (also blaming you because I'm naturally a finger-pointer). Plus, I'll have you know that I ORDERED that book you had for a while in your signature/avatar about self sufficiency on 1/4 acre - yes, YOUR FAULT! I've also got two big tanks situated on the other side of my garage to catch rainwater to use down in my way back-backyard (if all goes according to plan - big IF!). When I figure out how to blame someone on here for those, you'll know it. Your good intentions are insidious.

Finally and in conclusion, I really like your idea of bringing a tom turkey to your setup to entice folks to see what you're selling - would work on me for sure!
