I didnt get anything done yesterday.... really put me behind. We have been clearing and cleaning new areas on our property to make room for some improvements and moving of animals next year. The more I can get done before the cold weather hits the less there will be for next year. We, or at least I am hoping to have it all done this year so it is all ready to move next year.

Good morning okies Was another semi long night for me. trapped and killed 2 skunks and saw another bobcat I bet you a mill he is homed in my barn where the quarinteen pen is now. Had the greathorn owl swoop on a buff brahma roo but missed. guess I was in the right place at the right time. Hatched out some Cochin chicks buff over black and some WPR over buckeyes last night. I am getting good at this game 100% hatch rate 10/10 hehe time for more coffee and chicken chores then its time to grease up the drills rev the John Deere and get to sowing some good ol red winter wheat

sounds like you are among the group that is addicted to hatching
big_smile.png
If you write yoursef notes so you know when to anticipate hatching, you might be able to be "cured" of this addiction.

If you don't make any notes and are surprised when the first ones start pipping, you are hatching according to the "Teach" school of hatching and you might want to consider raising quail so you will have an early warning system in place to remind you to move the eggs to the hatcher for hatching.

ok, critters are out, second cup o coffee, so i think i'm awake.... 39 degrees and can't complain! poser is getting over a limp, i think he must have cut it, wouldn't let me look at it.... she is a strong bugger to stay caught! all the teen chicks have been trying out nest boxes, so all is well in the world...

Like the guniea picture Mrs.Robin! Looks so real! Hope Poser gets better. We had our first frost this morning. Got a good laugh when I let the taco dogs out. Izzy started down the steps after a bird and slipped on the ice and plopped down the steps on her butt,so here comes Livvy and does the same thing! Then They jumped up with this "What the Hey" look! It was hilarious! Lol

But I kind of enjoy that warm part of my winter chicken chores

STeph, fall & winter are the best times to clean up, it's the only way I can stay warm and you don't have to worry about snakes, spiders & such!

Wayne bet that was cute!

Robin good to see you around again! I am complaining about the cold, I don't like it

No hatching here. I have never, repeat, never been able to raise chicks throught he winter. My hats off to you guys that can and do.
My DW is in Seattle this week so I am Mr. Mom and Mr. Dad!
I have many projects I want to get done while she is away but I keep getting sidetracked.
Having said that, I am know using a crowbar to pry myself away from the computer.
Later friends,
Monty
