Hey Donnie - Thanks for the kind words. I was thinking about you today when I went to the Brushy Mountain auction in Sallisaw. It's not too far from your place. I sold a big Delaware cockerel for ten and a couple of partridge rock pullets for six each. I think the buyers and the sellers were both happy today. I also got an amazing pair of banties. There weren't many people interested in banties today, so most got pulled out, except for some pairs of these. I got my pair for five dollars. Somebody tell me what I got. I just love them.
I passed on some old cages but bought a big cage that's in great condition. My final purchase was a trio of gold laced Wyandottes. When loading them I noticed that one of the hens complained at being picked up, and I found what appears to be a healing chest and neck injury, maybe dog bite or some other carnivore bite. Since there wasn't any sign of infection, I put her in my travel cage and headed home. I've washed her wounds with betadine and sprayed the area with blue kote. If anyone has advice about antibiotics please post. I want this little girl to make it. Her coloring is excellent, and she's got a sweet personality.
Nobody had hatching eggs. I'm glad I wasn't tempted.
