Sorry I missed all the action on the thread last night.

Donnie - P&B is right. The SS roo was one she rehomed for a friend. I had him for nearly a full breeding season, but he kept kicking me all the time, so I sold him to you. I figured you would have a stronger presence than I did, so he might come to respect you. I was always able to put a boot up to defend myself, but I wasn't able to convince the roo that I was in charge.

I have a cockerel by that roo. I think I posted a photo about a month ago. He will be in my SS breeding pen next year. I don't have any "extra" hens right now, but I'll have chicks and eggs in February or March.

We're at the end of the first quarter, so I'm overwhelmed at work. I need to finish grading last week's work so I can get ready for nine weeks tests. I need a nap.

cuban- thanks for letting me know- any chance your BF can stay long enough to spy out what is getting them? don't know your set up- but since they are specialty birds- don't laugh- move them into a garage or something till you get what is getting them??

Good morning.... I missed it last night. By the time I got everything finished, I had time to catch up ready posts then was too tired to stay and visit.... Hopefully next time. The thread was moving fast last night and it was great to see!

That would be Jessica McClure. Oct.16,1987 She was rescued from an abandoned water well in Midland,Texas.
Having grown up in Odessa, Texas I watched this story a lot.
I fell into one of those when I was about 7 but mine was only about 6 ft deep and they were able to just pull me out. It was scarry but I was just in there a few minutes.

yes breeding for colors atm. First batch was Black Cochin standard over Buff Cochin Bantam. Second was Buff Cochin bantam over Buff Brahma bantam, 3rd hatch is Buff Cochin bantam over White frizzle Cochin. I intent to cull out what I dont want color wise and breed these back into each other. they are unrelated. I do think my lacing is gonna be very nice on one of them.

I think we just had an earthquake! A small bump, then immediately the whole house shook! Called my husband in Sand Springs, about 15 miles away, and he felt the same thing. A bit unsettling. I know we have earthquakes in Oklahoma, but have never felt one before.

there is a darker brown one who bled all together. so his lacing looks like that of my junk pair I am trying to improve. the rest turned out as I had intended them to I wanted Golden Colored Cochins. I am trying to learn all this color stuff and I feel like I am taking an algebra quiz again lol

Matt,
I know you can produce breast lacing with black over red it will look like a brown red but is the lacing restricted to the breast or is it all over the bird? I would have expected more of a brown from the buff added to black as the buff is red diluted with dun. May be an interesting bird when it finishes.
