I've left a live trap out with some tuna fish. Maybe if I can catch the cat I can turn it over to a shelter.

I'd say turn it under with a shovel. But I am kinda old school!

When I set a "Live Trap" that only means "going in" not "coming out"

Yeah, it's just harder for me to kill something when it is in the trap than when it is loose and making mayhem. Possums and coons are one thing, but cats are just different somehow. On the other hand, the image of my poor little birds ripped to bits is a pretty strong one. We'll just have to see if the monster comes back. I think I put the fear of God into it with that missed shot.

I sat up last night with the can of tuna and the shotgun. I set up in the firebreak between the two halves of our property, near the quail pen, and sat there in the dark for a couple of hours. I heard some animal in the woods, but I don't think it was the cat. It was kind of neat to sit there while the storm was rolling in. You could hear the wind coming through the trees from a long ways out, and when it got to where I was it would rain hickory nuts and acorns down into the dry leaves. When the clouds covered the moon, I gave up, set the trap and went in.

I have a friend that is going to be selling her chickens. She has about 50 birds. There are the americaunas(mostly hens, I think 1 roo) There are nine white face black Spanish (2 roos and 7 hens.)
She also has some standard white cochin hens, a little black frizz cochin and a brahma bantam hen. There are a few other odds and ends and she needs to sell them pretty fast.
Send me a PM if anyone is interested and I will contact her.
She is in Southeast OKC
Thanks,
Monty

Evening everyone! I am enjoying my dinnner that my wonderful DH made for me! purple hull peas, pork chops & fried taters. YUMMY!

I have spent the day working on my floor, I think I have it about 60% done. I have to do some touch up's on it tomorrow & then I will be able to clean it all & let it dry so I can seal it. I figure by the end of the week. (I hope).

Robin I don't think I ever heard of a goose matureing and laying its first year!Thats quiet an accomplishment. You must be an excellent goose person!
I let my ees free range yesterday and wouldn't you know it my favoprite rumpless roo is now missing! I'm thinking the neighbors dog(Taco) chased it off but I guess a hawk could have got it. Why is always the best ones that get it!

I got 8 eggs today, a few out of each pen.My runt satandard NN lays a huge egg,or maybe its because I'm used to the bantam eggs. I would like to set them but am going to wait till spring.

hmmmm... is it possible one of the ducks could have laid that big of an egg??? kind of like the hens occasionally do??

i sure hope your roo shows up! i found my silky decided to stay out last nite- in the enclosed run, but i didn't see her when i locked them up, shows our run is safe- but i now keep a close eye on her when locking them up...
