I will bring the hamburger meat if you make the patties.
sssshhhh I will tell you a little secret I HATE touching raw hamburger!!

After processing 3 deer while pregnant with Shaun really done me in. It took 10 yrs to eat it again. Then Shaun has become quite the hunter and we have ate a lot of deer the past 2-3 yrs and now the smell and texture makes me want to hurl!!
I can clean all kinds of abcesses, deliver claves, clean stalls, but I have a red meat aversion. I am a whinner!! Sorry!!​

Howdy peeps! It's Friday eve!! Wootalootie! It's been rainy off and on here in SE Oklahoma for the last few days...foggy this morning and chilly all day....I'm just glad that we aren't looking to get any of that snow...at least I hope not. I was all for us getting some snow earlier in the winter, but now I'm totally ready for spring to stick around.

Eggs are still in the incubator...we'll see how that turns out...it's day 6 today.

Chicks in the brooder are cute little boogers...getting their little pin feathers in and chirping their cute little heads off....I love how they can "sense" when you're looking at them, even if you sneak up on them....they do that little head turn and stare at you with one eye.

Hubby is going in to see the urologist on Monday and they'll set up surgery then.

Made my big birds a veggie salad tonight for their treats....cabbage, zucchini, yellow squash, and mushrooms....threw in some berries off my tree and they were in heaven.

I think I'd like to get a silkie hen....they are so adorable...all soft and cuddly looking...everyone deserves at least one of those, don't you think?

Well, I'm off to watch World's Dumbest on TruTV....cracks me up.

Will do on the meat! I understand about the meat thing. My wife hardly ate any while pregnant! Knew another gal that hurled at the mention of bacon. We put up 6 deer this year...now a couple blackbuck...we likes the meat!

Thanks for the thoughts! We have a stack of wood, gas stove, lots of food, and each other. Hopefully the power will stay on and I will be able to holler at y'all!

I know it's only day 6 of my incubation, but I just *had* to candle to see what I could see.

Of my 6 duck eggs, 2 of them were refrigerated before incubating. I can see veining on 5 of the 6 eggs, and I'm not real sure about the second refrigerated egg.

Of my welsummer eggs, I'm not so sure about them. I think I could see a dark spot on 2-3 of them but it's so hard to see any veining on those dark eggs.

I left them all in the bator, of course, and will candle again probably around day 10 just to see....I was so worried after having to leave them unturned for a day and a half and that one temp spike. I'm hoping to see some progress the next time I candle them.....this is sooo addicting.

This was my first time to candle. I did it on day 8 and 10. On day 8 I was pretty confused by what I thought I saw......I didn't remove any eggs. I got on here and read everything I could, got a better light and on day 10 I only had one egg that wasn't fertile.

I am quickly becoming obsessed.

Sooner: I don't think it's a dumb question at all...I just asked my husband the same thing!

I was like - do they raise them to hunt them, or do they raise them to eat them, or do they raise them to eat gourmet poached quail eggs? LOL It's the same thing I wonder about people raising goats or llamas.....
