It sounds like you are the proverbial "frog in the hot water" and you may not realize how much you are accomplishing and how much caregiving you are doing. Please take some time for yourself and drink lots of orange juice to keep up your immune system. Your recent 10 hours of sleep was a good start, but I bet you could do that again without having to force yourself to stay in bed, if you gave yourself the opportunity.

I have to admit that I am into off white walls - hubby will paint if that is the color

Bright pink and teal blue sound very cheerful.

Thanks P&B, since my 10 hours of sleep I have been coming in earlier & at least getting more rest. I will pick up some OJ tomorrow on the way to work, that sounds good. Yes you are right I could sleep forever I think. Things are moving in the right direction & hopefully we will make it into our house by Christmas but if we don't I won't be upset.

Since you keep turkey's how long do they have to be penned together before you are sure of a pure bred egg?

Sounds like you are about to finish up on the house! That's great. And it will seem so much better because you did so much your self. We are kicking around all sorts of ideals for what to put on the farm. But we (that being me!)want to do ad much as we can ourselves.Still like the ideal of the metal outside tho!
Finally got the tree decorating finished today. It looks good but it sure is bare underneath!lol Hope Santa doesn'forget us!ll
Looks like the ground will be white in the morning! That means school will pro ably be out.

We are getting close, still several things to get done but I can see the light at the end of the tunnle. We have done alot ourselfs & I am glad about that because so much of it cost alot less that way but in the end I will be very proud of what we did.

I have to say I am glad you have the snow & not us! I am still wishing winter away, but it's not listening.

Sooner - When my turkeys start laying again in the spring, I will be sure that the chocolate pair are separated from the Narragansetts for at least 2 weeks before I incubate any eggs, so the I don't end up with "mixed breed" turkeys. None of mine are laying right now, so everyone is one big happy family free-ranging and roosting together.

I agree that I am not yet ready for winter. I understand from the calendar that it is time for winter weather, but it would be nice if we could stay above freezing so that the water bowls don't freeze overnight, until about the end of January. Then, it would be alright to have freezing weather - but no ice storms - for about three weeks before returning to staying above freezing until Spring. I know that will never happen in Oklahoma - but that doesn't stop me from wishful thinking.

I am so not ready for freezing water or anything winter as far as my chickens go. They all have protection but I still have stuff to do since I have all the breeding pens. Considered putting them all together but it makes it harder when we show.

how many shows do you have between now and the end of cold weather? I have been moving birds around so that there are fewer feeders and waterers to take care of each day. I will separate out the breeds I want to keep "pure" in the spring, when I start incubating eggs again. For now, I just want simplicity and to save time.

Sooner, It is great you are letting her have the colors she wants in her room.

Several years ago I helped my niece (a mid teen at the time) paint and decorate her room, we did 5 bright colors (puple, yellow, blue, orange, green) and did the large "70's" type flowers on the walls. At first I thought her mother (my sister in law) was going to stroke out!!!!!

But she was a trooper and actually helped, neice LOVED the room, and was the envy of all her friends, who thought she had the coolest mother ever.

Morning, sorry I bugged but it was bed time. LOL.

Mostly the shows are local 4H shows but she has one every month for a while. I have so many roo's with big personalities.

I let both kids pick the color that they wanted but for some reason I am the one painting it??? I don't think it was suppose to be that way......LOL. I am hoping to go out there & not have to go over the blue again!
