Dang!!! You guys talk a lot!!! hahahaha , I got up abput 8:30am and had breakfat, just now getting caught up on the tread here, how may pages we behind them others on Al, Sonya and Luvs, I found by putting down about 4-6 inches of Screenings (fine gravel and dust) from about any gravel yard, (fairly cheap) put it in and smooth it out then wet it down good, let it set and dry out a couple days and it sets up like concrete, the chickens like to eat the fine gravel for grit also. It is still snowing here, but it didn't start till about 9am. Al I too have had wind problems, I live on a hill here and there is a wheat field across the road from me south, and no trees north of me so it blows here all the dang time. Nothin to stop it. I had to ut tires and wheels on top of my cages to keep the tin on top. Al and Teach, I had a buddy doun by Harrah that raises quail(BW) and pheasant and jungle fowl and guineas, he made his quail breeder cage up on 4x4 post about 8 foot wide and 12 foot long the elevated the bottom in the middle about a inch or so, and put the sides of the cage up off the floor about an inch so the eggs could slowly roll out to the sides into a little turned up area of the floor wire, and he just goes along and gathers the eggs, he lets the dropping build up under the cage and removes it about twice a year to the compost pile. It has a solod roof over the whole cage and a small closed in area on the end so he can feed and water them and they can get in out of the wind and weather if needed. will be on and off today, yall have a great day enjoying the family and tv time, stay warm, make some hot chocolate or something, mabe bake some cookies with the kids to warm the house up!!!! Lynn

Teach what is really bad is my hubby is getting into it. NOW that is scary. He did make me feed and let them out today, usually he does it.
Update on the 44- 3 week old chicks that are OUTSIDE!!!!! All is well with them. Even with these cold temps. They do have a light on them for this cold and the 7 week olds are taking good care of them.

Lynn,(my hubby's name also) dont know why I didnt think of that fine gravel stuff, dont they call it wash out or something like that............that is what my drive way is made of. YES the stuff is cheap. I will see about getting a dump load or 2 this summer. hmmmmmmm will have to move the birds around a bit to do it but gosh it will save in the long run.

AL,
Well, I want to stay here on the board or take a nap but that won't happen unless I just narcolepsy off here on the key board zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Sorry, actually I have been doing a lot of cooking this week and I must say my kithen help hasn't kept up with my madness so I forsee a few hours of cleaning in the kitchen.
If the roads stay OK I might try and run to Jones for the auction.
I also have to study my S.S. lesson for those ninth grader boys who will be at church eagerly awaiting every word out of my mouth.
Like they will every do that. But you gotta keep casting the bread upon on the water.
How about you? What do you have going today?

I'm hoping this is the last big move I have to help with for a long time. Sue and I lived in a little trailer for 3 years after we married. We moved into our house and have been here for 28 years.

But we have helped move our daughter from Oklahoma to Missouri to several places in Texas and now back to Oklahoma. All job related.

Our son has moved several times also. I think this is it for both of them. I'm tired just thinking about it. Well a couple more loads and it will all be done.

Greybear - I keep my preachin' and snake handlin' seperate! Although i have been formulating a sermon where i could bring a snake for children's time...yup I am a strange one!

I do have a sermon where I use a solution that chnages color...was gonna do one where I change water to orange juices and milk...the danger of letting a science geek preach!

Luvs - my wife isn't really into it but likes to watch the babies and will help a bit!

Monty - you be careful if you get out! Keep an eye open for me

I would say Welsummer but that might offend my Marans and they would be squaking and then my Golden Campines would get word of it and be mifffed.
Soon the games would hear about it and start a big fight and the Turkens would just say well it hurts but it ain't no skin off of my neck but the Orpingtons, they are snooty anyway with their British background and all and then the Hamburgs well they know there place just from the pen they are in.
So I guess I better not say because the mutts are too nosy and word my get back to the others.
Didi I answer your question. I am confused.

As for favorite breed, I would have to say the Standard Old English Games,
