Dang!!! You guys talk a lot!!! hahahaha , I got up abput 8:30am and had breakfat, just now getting caught up on the tread here, how may pages we behind them others on Al, Sonya and Luvs, I found by putting down about 4-6 inches of Screenings (fine gravel and dust) from about any gravel yard, (fairly cheap) put it in and smooth it out then wet it down good, let it set and dry out a couple days and it sets up like concrete, the chickens like to eat the fine gravel for grit also. It is still snowing here, but it didn't start till about 9am. Al I too have had wind problems, I live on a hill here and there is a wheat field across the road from me south, and no trees north of me so it blows here all the dang time. Nothin to stop it. I had to ut tires and wheels on top of my cages to keep the tin on top. Al and Teach, I had a buddy doun by Harrah that raises quail(BW) and pheasant and jungle fowl and guineas, he made his quail breeder cage up on 4x4 post about 8 foot wide and 12 foot long the elevated the bottom in the middle about a inch or so, and put the sides of the cage up off the floor about an inch so the eggs could slowly roll out to the sides into a little turned up area of the floor wire, and he just goes along and gathers the eggs, he lets the dropping build up under the cage and removes it about twice a year to the compost pile. It has a solod roof over the whole cage and a small closed in area on the end so he can feed and water them and they can get in out of the wind and weather if needed. will be on and off today, yall have a great day enjoying the family and tv time, stay warm, make some hot chocolate or something, mabe bake some cookies with the kids to warm the house up!!!!
