The Andalusian started first. and have done great. I think 25 have hatched so far. The welsummers I am not sure but I think around 20 so far. They started later. I don't know why but I am very happy so far with the hatch.

I want to thank you again for meeting me at the airport with the eggs.
I am not too fond of shipped eggs however, You did have then packaged very well.

This is my first hatch in the cabinet incubator and I really wasn't sure on myself at times.

Your very welcome, I'm happy you are getting a great hatch.
The Andalusians are always my first to hatch they are go getter's, and the welsummers are slow.
Thank you again what are you going to do with all those chicks?
How big is your brooder set up. I would love to see pictures if you can.

That is awesome pepper on your hatch. I am getting some from okiehen at Poops. I to am not real fond of shipping eggs.

Morning all, yes what a beautiful day it was yesterday. We did get the almost 2 week olds moved out to their new brooder. they were scared at 1st with all that room they had. AND that giant thing that has water in it.

Ok another nice day until about 2 or so then the wind blows in.

Good morning all! I have a question.

I have some 1/2" mesh and some 1/4" mesh wire. I am building some cortunix quail pens. Should I use the 1/4" mesh on the floor of the cage or would the 1/2" be okay. This will be a growing pen for my meat birds. I will be building some breeder pens soon also.

I have found that my brooder in going to be too small so I am going to use a 150 gal rubbermaid watering tub I was using to water my horses for now. I have a 40X72 brooder/pen but I have the chicks from my last hatch in it right now.

What am I going to do with all these chicks? ...... My wife is asking the same question. lol

Luvs, you won't be disappointed.

I am very excited about getting her eggs. And then later this summer I am going to get some lav orps from dutchchick. Any thing in blue and Lav are my favorites. I have almost decided from now on I am only going to buy hatching eggs local. To much disappointment in shipped eggs. Last month I paid 30 bucks plus shipping for a doz blrw and all arrived unharmed but not a single one hatched.

Pepper I am running into trouble on brooder space also. Right now I have 3 full and another hatch coming in 2 weeks. And then will have yet another hatch 3 weeks following that. I might take some to auction this weekend.

Pepper - hoarding it is called hoarding...you make lots more pens get extra jobs to pay for the feed and you just sit around staring at the birds waiting for the next set of orders so when the mother ship comes they take you with them...gotta go I hear the black helicopters again

Good morning all.
I missed being on here last night.
We had our big opening of our church Eater Pageant last night.
Man I was pooped. SIxteen songs and an hour and a half on stage.
One down and two to go.

Also my son cut his foot pretty bad yesterday, so keep him in your prayers. He tried to milk a day out of school for it but we bandaged him up and made him go. I am expecting a call though telling me he wants to come home. No stitches but it sliced a big chunk off the side of his heel.

I had a broody hen swap nests yesterday. She was off the original nest about three hours. Do you guys think this was too long. I am thinking about reloading her today with some new eggs. Stupid chicken.

I also had a fire down by the chicken pen yesterday. I don't know how that rooster got those matches.
Anyway got it put out pretty quickly. It burned some tires and pallets and a few other things. The only damage was to my body from carrying five gallon buckets of water and throwing it on the fire.
It was never really a threat to the chickens.
No fires today, it is gonna be too windy.

My broody cochin kicked out 5 of the 6 eggs she was sitting on yesterday morning then she took one back. Who knows what is going on with this girl. If none hatch on her I will stick a few chicks in with her and see how she does. She has been a good setter.

My fire was around noon but I doubt you smelled this one. It wasn't that big. There were several other bigger fires around.
