Hi Everyone! We are thinking of going to the Mt. View sale this afternoon. As some of you may remember, I have horses as my first love,

so
along with some lavender guinea eggs (which I sold 9 for 14 bucks at Cement last week), I might take some tack the horses have won that I don't need.

Can anyone tell me more about how it is run?

Thanks!

Poultryandbees, I haven't ever been to the Harrah auction, or any of the others. Not that I wouldn't like too!! I don't have any idea what kind of rabbits I have, I just use them to produce fertilizer for the garden!! Craigslist has been having a bunch of rabbits lately.

Countryroad and Poultryandbees, if I find any other rabbit shows, I'll let you know. Where I found out about the Duncan one, was on the ARBA website. Seems like there was one this month, but at Muskogee. That's just too far for me right now.

GoldRose, did you go to the Mt View auction? I wanted to go, but I really didn't think I could manage with my 2 month old grandbaby in tow!! And no one seemed to want to go with me! My miniture horse came from that auction about 4 years ago.

OKCarla, I think I owe you more money for those call duck eggs, I didn't realize till I got home, you had put in so many!! They are beautiful eggs! The little silkie eggs are so pretty too, I've never seen either before!! I just love the chicks, they are so calm and friendly. They are so pretty, I could just look at them all day!! I think those are my favorite chickens now!! It was nice meeting you and Gerald, you are such a cute couple!! Thanks again!

Foghorn, I'm so jealous that you got some of Carla's eggs! Let us know how they turn out.

Has anyone heard from Carla the past few days? I was supposed to meet with her and her husband soon...

Buckguy, how'd the Harrah auction go this time? I heard that you went to discuss the concerns.

Cammie, Well I thought the auction went ok at least for my part. There were a few things I didn't like but nothing I can't get over.
They sold a lot of trinkets and stuff, what I call junk because I wasn't interested in it. It took well over an hour to get through it,
Then they sold a ton of hatching eggs which I didn't mind at all but it took a long time to get through those.
I say all of this becasue by the time they started selling chickens I think they started getting in a hurry.
I screwed up twice trying to buy stuff. Both mostly my own fault. I wasn't on my game after sitting through them selling all of the foo foo stuff.
There were still some issues on identification but overall I think it was much better.
Lisa, (Critter on here) had some Welsummer and Dark RI chicks that they just sold as chicks and they only brought 50 cents each. Had they ID'd them right they would have sold for more I am sure.
I didn't talk to Carla and Gerald much so I don't know what she bought or sold.
I would like to hear her thoughts on the auction.
Like I said I thought overall it was much better.
I did buy a pair of Wheaten Penedesencas that are very pretty. Like I need more breeds of chickens?
I hope you are doing OK with your new friends (Hubby to be and rabbit)
I miss reading your posts about your chickens though.
This thread has been very quiet, I guess everyone is busy busy.
Speaking of that, I gotta DR. appt. so I better run.
Later Monty

Sorry to have been off for so long ... too much to do & too little time. Migraines & PMS have gotten in the way, too.

It was so nice meeting you Foghorn! I hope all those eggs hatch for you

no, you don't owe any more! I'm hoping you get a good hatch from those call duck eggs,

I think we might go to the Ensign auction in Prague this weekend & sell some juvenile chickens. I think we'll take some Cuckoo Marans rooster chicks there along with some Egyptian Fayoumi, Golden Phoenix, and some white bantams ... all are about 3 months old.

I do miss all of my chickies. I try to not look at the ones at Atwoods. I waited forever for them to get Silkies; now that I'm done with chickens, we got them...

I'm seriously considering incubating eggs and then selling the chicks. Incubating and hatching is my favorite part of it all.

And if I bought eggs at the Cement auction, the chicks would be ready to go by the next auction! But Clark says I have to wait and see what our electric bill looks like. *haha*

Foghorn, we haven't actually met, but I feel like I know you because I see you in Atwoods all the time. Not that I'm a creepy stalker, I'm just there alot. *ha*

Sounds like there were so many unappreciated rare breeds at Harrah! I'm so jealous! I'm working on taming up my bun bun, maybe I will bring him to an auction sometime. Oh and I might bring the rabbit Carla got me too.

*bad husband joke*

Cammie, now don't quote me on this (

), but I think I read that it costs around $12 to run a table-top incubator for 21 days.

Buckguy, Ooooooo! Wheaten Penedesencas are so pretty!

Foghorn Leghorn, do you have any more info on the Rabbit show? We should be moved (to Duncan) by then, so I might come by. It wouls be great to meet up with somemore BYC Okies too

Carla, I hope you get to feeling better :aww Just wanted to let you know that the Silkie chicks are doing great, and so are the three Spitzhauben chicks I got from those eggs you gave me

Grace, thanks for the info! I will tell Clark that I'll start putting back $12 a month for the incubator. *haha* It would be great if we could meet up at a bunny show! Let me know if you go to any chicken shows; I'm ready for Shawnee again!

Buckguy, I would love to see pics of your newest additions!

Oooooh I'm so jelous I want some more eggs and chicks, well I will have somemore chicks, but I mean some spitz and pheniox, but at the moment I feel hubby needs to bulid me somemore pens and coops so I cannot get anything else for the time being. I have about 20 serama eggs and 5 silkie eggs, 3 RIR and 10 gamebird eggs that are all growing wanderfully toward their hatching date and after candling last night I only had to take out 2 eggs, all the rest had strong bold veins and where dancing all about happily in their eggs. so I should have another large hatch next week. It looks like our little serama flock is coming along fine all that have hatched out this year look to be purfect for breeding for next year. my silkies on the other hand I think we will be spliting the flock one for breeders for show and the others will be hens only for eating eggs and to set on ordered eggs. I have a few other breeds but they are still small flocks and are not yet up to par for breeding programs just yet, I still need to build up the blood lines and numbers in the pens. but all and all we are doing pretty good and all my chickens aka my babies are soooo spoiled we free range each pen day by day, one to two pens out one day and then we let out one or two other pens the next day, and we just stay in that rotation until winter then we let everyone out to play togather. Well I will be off to the monroe auction friday, I wish we had a better auction closer to us, I just don't like the way they do things at monroe, people could get better prices than what they get there. Oh Well maybe someday we will get to go to the blue auction. well everyone have a nice day and watch out for the storms and I pray we will all be safe. Mawchickkidie

Cammie, the only two shows I know of so far this year are our Chicken Stock and Shawnee. I'll let you know if I plan to go to any others.
Was it Newcastle we met up at last year? Awww... that fateful meeting

Mawchickkidie, thanks for the update
