There is a gamebird hatchery near Harrah. I can't remember the name but he ships games birds all over the world. Well he did, I guess he still does. I'll see if I can find the name.
Teach, a question. Can you explain the different colors of the quail we got from you?
I think they are all cotournix. Jared asked me and I had no answer except to say they might just be different varieties.

Barred rocks should have yellow feet.
Henderson's chicken chart says that Orps can either be white legged or dark legged for what that is worth.

Of course I am having a terrible time telling BR's from Cuckoo Marans.

Hey everybody:

Well it's daylight and I can see we got some damage, I am on my DD's computer I can't login on my laptop, tried everything still no can do, I am PO'd. I lost all of my quail last night sorry Teach, the hutch which is big and stout blew away down the pasture with my birds in it, I found it this morning and they had been crushed by the rolling and banging of the feeders and waterers in there. I lost some of my last hatch of 4 week olds chicks 36 of them when the cover to the big brooder I had them in blew off, some flew off most just drowned. I had 4 huge heavy cinder blocks on the top, but the wind was 90+ here last night. the new construction that I was doing on the coop was still standing and held up just fine. Me and the DW just spent about 3 hrs trying to clean up outside and look for stuff, all the bridges are out (3) so I can't get to the school to pick up my Daughter and the school bus can't cross the bridges. now what to do, this is the kind of weather that I really hate, it just has me fuming, ever tried going down the road at 50mph trying to outrun a storm and the truck is blowing and rocking, the girls are screaming and crying, and you are trying to keep it all together. we got to bed last night about 1 am just before another storm was on it's way, so not much sleep for me. this kinda stuff makes me want to pack up and just drive north for good. I am having a crappy crappy day. sorry folks hate to vent but I have to tell somebody DW is tired of hearing it.

Jeez Al, I think anyone would be a little strung out... Hang in there... Do ya need help cleaning up? I could run out there and give y'all a hand....? Sorry about your quail... I always worry about that. Ain't alot gonna stand up to 90 mph. You might feel better after some rest.... I love ya Big Galoot... Hang in there... don't give up the ship! Call if ya need help!

I have spent the day mowing my neighbors property....it's like 6 acres. I ran over a dang turtle...!

Couldn't see it cause the grass is so tall...I was bummed... then I scared a bunch of rabbits....The field mice are hilarious... the way they BOING! BOING! One was running right in front of me in a path I had already cleared.... I love mowing... I have a blast!

Al - Man I wish I could give you a hand this weekend...I bet I could work something out for the following weekend if it is needed. Don't worry about the quail, I know a guy we can get replacements from!

Monty - the yellow with dark spots are Italian, the all real dark ones are tibetan, the light brown ones (kinda bobwhite colored) are pharoh, and the really dark ones with white are tuxedos...the all white ones are either English or A&M's depending on size!

Didn't think B&D had the chuckars...shows what I know...

Bigokie - check price might need some come the next swap unless you are headed this way or I head that way or something.

Al, I am so sorry about all the birds you lost! That is just terrible!
It sounds like you are getting new Quail (from what Teach said), but I would be glad to help you out with replacing the chicks. What breed/s were the chicks you lost?

Al, Ihate to hear about this man. I am glad you and your wife and daughter are OK but sorry about the birds.
What can we do to help?
Hopefully your crappy day will get better.
Remember it gets really cold up North.
