Hi,
I'm looking for guinea eggs in Claremore, Foyil even Tulsa area. I have a guinea that thinks she wants to raise a family. Anyone with extras they want to sell please PM me. Thanks.

It must be something to do with all the rain and this horrid humidity that we had today because one of my chickens decided she was not going inside the coop tonight where she is safe and is sitting on her usual nest. Let me just tell you she wasn't her sweet self when I went to talk to her and pet her. What a nasty little thing she was!!! If worst comes to worst tomorrow I willl take newly set eggs from the incubator and give them to her but I don't even want to begin trusting a guinea with my Marans eggs!!

Thanks

Guineas make wonderful broody hens, but lousy mothers once the chicks hatch.

I had three chicken hens go broody on me last week so one got turkey and guinea eggs, one got only guinea eggs because I had already put the turkey eggs in the incubator that particular day and one got some welsummer eggs I bought at an auction. Two more hens, went broody this week - bantam hens - so one got all the eggs of her variety hen that were going into the incubator plus the two she was setting on and the other bantam got guinea eggs this evening.

I love guinea keets - they are so hardy and determined to find something that sounds like they do.

Hey PnB where you been all nite? Broody hens, gotta love those little miracles of nature. What variety guineas do you raise? I saw a white one latch onto my neighbors roo and that roo pulled that guinea all over the place, quite the site.

Ronnie - I love the night sky also. I also love the quiet of the night with the sounds of the crickets, the peacocks screaming and the trains going by every hour

Guineas rule!!!!
I have seen guineas march a full grown tom turkey or a mean rooster around by its tail feathers. They don't take any gruff of any critter and they stick together.
We have a couple of white guineas, some lavender and some pearl and a couple of slate. They are all running together so any eggs we hatch will be mutts - but folks are asking me for young guineas to eat their ticks and they really don't seem to care whether the guineas can trace their lineage.

I like the quiet of the night for feeding rabbits and gathering eggs. There is something sort of special about going into the hen house at night and feeling in the nest boxes for the eggs, instead of getting them by sight. Of course, I fully expect that someday I am going to reach into the nest and put my hand on a snake, but so far any snakes have stayed on the floor of the hen house - where I don't really mind them since they eat mice in addition to an egg every now and again. Of course, in my nest boxes there are chalk eggs and golf balls as a visual aid to my chickens on where I want their eggs. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if a snake were to swallow one of those "fake eggs."

The shipping of $15 seems a bit steep. Of course, it has been several years since I bought hatching eggs by mail, so that may be normal.

I saw where B&D farm has guinea chicks and eggs for sale, in addition to their quail and chucker eggs and chicks.
