Henny Our pastor was preaching awhile back and he told us a story of a pastor in his office kicking stuff around and making a terrible noise. The church secretary walked in and said "what is the matter"? The pastor said "I'm in a hurry and God ain't!" Isn't that the way life works? I want a quick fix right now but, God's timing isn't always mine.

Perhaps God is giving you this little bump in the road with your chickens to take your mind off of other troubles? My chicks have been a diversion from school stress and it has worked, somewhat now it is my new "stress". I go from one crisis to another though and I guess this is my new crisis

Henny, If you got that turner local then take it back, I got one from our local co-op and it didn't work so I call LG and they told me to return it to the dealer and get another..
Also If you are hand turning you really only need to do it 2 times a day once in the morning and once at night..Other may not agree but it has always worked for me..
I hand turn most of mine and I do it at about 8AM and 6PM.. also If you have a small unit just get a piece of 2x4 and put under 1 end then the other

Oh my word Grace those are some of the most adorable little bunnies I have ever seen. I just love those ears. Now I must tell myself I DO NOT NEED A BUNNY. I have this terrible habit of needing cute things. My poor chicken coop is one example of needing just 1 more cute little thing.

It's been a while guys, Hi! I've been trying to read now and then but no time to post. Hatching, pen building, end of school activities, LIFE--you know! I don't even really have time right now but I just wanted to check in and say that I'm glad that it seems no one got hurt with the storms. Sorry to Al for losses and others for hurting.

Crushed ice in a glass with just enough water to fill the voids around the ice; then insert thermometer and wait for it to stabilize, then check reading for 32 F. If not 32, then 'adjust to that by 1)on a glass vial that is attached to something with staples etc., move it til it is; 2)stick with a dial on top, hold stick or nut on the bottom of the dial with pliers/wrench and then turn the dial til it reads 32; or 3)digital-look for a calibration button or dial (or the owners manual

) and adjust. I have even seen a 'zero' button but for that you need to change the reading to celsius (F to C) and then the zero button. Thermometers vary even from the same brand.

Everyone, have a great weekend and I hope that the good weather holds for you for awhile at least.
