Yea! I finally found this info that luvzmybabz posted in September. I still think I'm going to go to this auction Saturday, although I'm wondering if I should take anything to sell, since it will surely be a poor turnout because of the high interest in football games. Anybody going to the Jones auction on Saturday?

Hello fellow Okies. I am new to the site and looking for some point of lay pullets or young hens (4-6) and a rooster. Would prefer Australorps due to docile temperment but would take others into consideration. Please let me know breed, quantity, amount and location.
I would eventually like to start hatching my own eggs but don't have the proper space and equip. at this time. I look forward to learning from all of you.

What breeds are you looking for?

You might try a local auction for hatching eggs. The Blanchard auction on Saturday night might be a good source. Many of us okies have fertile hatching eggs of chickens, but I'm not sure about ducks.

We sometimes have fertile chicken eggs, and Gerald may take some to the Blanchard auction on Saturday.

They both begin at 5:00 pm.

I wish I could go to both auctions, but Gerald said he'd go to the Blanchard auction and I could go to the Jones auction and we could call each other on our cell phones! Now that is a SERIOUS CHICKEN ADDICTION!

I agree with Monty....Looks like white earlobes on some, which would probably mean Dutch Bantams. They don't look like the best quality if they are Dutch...probably hatchery birds. Pure Dutch only come in a few colors, but Ideal has them in about 18 different colors....they crossed in OEG's to create the colors. Rosecombs are not typical of either OEG's or Dutch....so they could be crossed with Rosecombs maybe.....I don't know. Dubbing of the rooster's combs could make them look like they have rosecombs, but the hens aren't typically dubbed so I don't know. I know Dutch really well as they are the ones that started my obsession into breeding true, quality breeds, but I don't know OEG's real well.
But the important thing is, do you like the birds? If you do, who cares what they are?! LOL

Hey dutch and Monty

These are not very old... plus I bought them at Cement so they were probably someone's castoffs. I got em on good food. electrolytes, and ACV and they are starting to really look better. They were pretty shaggy when I got em. The Lakenvelders are young and someone told me the black on feathers and tails come in later? I have no idea... But I really love those guys. I am not breeding or anything... just keepin' pets and sellin' eggs. I am going to grind up some cat food to add to their feed for their feathers. I am going to hang onto the "Lakes" and the Squeak family... might get rid of the others though. Also got a few cochins in the mix, guess they are probably bantams as well though a couple buffs look like they could be standards. Thanks one and all

Carla you are so much braver then I am sending Gerald to an auction by himself. I would NEVER send Charlie by himeslf he gets way to carried away sometimes. I will be taking a few things to Blanchard tonight. A couple of rabbits and a cage some eggs ( mixed breed ) and some chicks I am kinda worried about the chicks getting cool though, they are 1 week old. I hope to find a buck. If someone going to Jones could keep and ear out for how much Nubian Goats ( if there are any) are going I would appreciate it.

PS forgot to ask did anyone see the back and forth on craigslist this past week about another poultry auction? First post said how they were going to be starting up auction in Purcell next was how horrible the guy running the auction was third (others were flagged at this point) said 2nd guy was jealous.

Here is the craiglist ad with direction County Line Rd. if I remember right is on a curve and not well marked but there will be a smallish real estate type sign that says circle 21 auction on the hiway by the turn off.
