I think we have an extra Narragansett, a Blue Slate and a Royal Palm still. Suprisingly, they all get along together pretty well together. I wish my roosters could just get along with each other! I've had to separate some roos recently because they bloodied each other up.

Country welcome to what my sister lovingly calls the "Home Improvement Circle Of The darn". We have considered making T-Shirts.

I was talking to Al about silkies... I want to get some in the spring.... I think we should appoint Carla the official Oklahoma Silky Breeder. wecould all line up at her house in the spring for silkies! LOL.

I lost another hen this morning. Another victim of southwest Oklahoma weather insanity. everytime we get one of those cold fronts... someone gets sick or dies. It sucks. This was a black star... she was gorgeous. A big ole girl just about ready to lay. I had just gotten my machete yesterday and decided I was going to put her down... I came back out and she was already gone. What a blessing! I hate chopping chickens.

Gees, Pa-Pa and the KID are at it again. They spent
yesterday afternoon/evening...in my livingroom....finishing
up their new show box..........

They've spotted a blue/silver duckwing and "gotta have some"....
Does anyone have any blue/silver duckwings, or any blue splash
pullets out of a silver duckwing?.......whatever that is..........

I'm just the Na-Na....LOL I've told them that they're getting on
my last nerve and that if they keep messing with me, I'm
gonna replace my Campbell ducks....... I miss the duck eggs
for baking.

Our new County Extension Agent is really fired up and is having
another Cherokee County Show the later part of January
and plans for several more. I'm glad for that. It will keep
the 4-H kids busy with their critters.

Have a good one !

Right after I bragged about my tom turkeys not fighting with each other like roosters do, Gerald & I go outside to feed & one of my Narragansett toms is getting beat up in one pen, and in another pen 2 royal palm toms are fighting with a blue slate tom. Gosh ... the blue slate acts like a pit bull dog ... he had a hold of the head of one royal palm tom and would not let go ... even when I slapped him & then picked him up ... had to shake him a bit to shake some sense into him. I guess hormones are beginning to make 'em stupid.

So now a Narragansett and a Blue Slate tom are in isolation pens ... will be at the next auction I guess or listed on craigslist soon. It appears the birds are thinking Spring! Yea! I can't wait for turkey eggs!

I sure never knew that toms would fight each other. The turkeys we had last year all got along, but they were all the same breed too. Perhaps these guys are racist ... it's only one breed against another. Gerald said the 2 royal palm toms were attacking the bigger, blue slate tom before he got mad & nailed the one tom & wouldn't let go. I'd better separate them by breed tomorrow. Hopefully segregation will cure the problem.

Queen Scoot, that's a nice looking rooster you're trying to find a home for.

I guess he has an attitude problem? Not human friendly ???? Don't you just hate it when they get that way! If only we could talk some sense into those guys!

That's exactly why I try to keep a spare rooster. I don't think they can be rehabilitated, so I get rid of mine too ... they either act nice or else ... it's my way or the highway (auction, rehoming or dinner).

I wish you the best of luck finding him a new home.

Hey guys! Stillwater, OK here! I have raised Antwerp Belgian Bantams in Black and Quail varieties as well as general barnyard chickens (RIR, Black Australorps, and Barred Rocks).... I recently graduated from OSU, and I look forward to getting some again!!! (As right before I went of to school they were ravaged by a dog that broke into the pens). Anyway... i'm looking forward to reestablishing the Rhode Island White and Buckeye Breeds, as well as getting some more D'Anvers and some Sumatra Bantams. I'm glad to be here!!!
