What a great idea. If my hens ever lay again I will take
advantage of you and enable your habit at the same time.
What a great guy I am.

Monty
Thanks for the offer. I promise not to take advantage of your kindness.

The problem with most of my "habits" is that I end up acquiring LOTS of stuff and that includes critters. My farm buildings and all my closets are full. Hatching without the resulting feed bill - or trying to find some place for a few more critters -sounds like a great deal to me. THANKS!

Oklahoma City allows poultry and farm animals other than pigs, provided you have at least an acre of property. Of course, some housing additions have restrictions in them that are stricter than the Oklahoma City ordinances. There are limitations on the quantity of animals you can keep, depending on the size of your property. There are however no restrictions on how many birds/poultry you can keep - although there is a prohibition against "housing" roosters within a certain distance of other residences. I am within the city limits of OKC and keep chickens, guineas, turkeys, peafowl and golden pheasants.

I live within OKC city limits but we are rural incorporated. I am pretty sure that hens are allowed in OKC in the suburban areas...unless you live in a neighborhood with a neighborhood association (oh the horror!!!) Anyway I'm pretty sure it's allowed, going from memory in reading the municipal codes about animal keeping. I think you can type in Oklahoma City action center, and find the city codes there. Hope this helps

Teach - the secret to hiding your "addictions" from your spouse is to always tell the truth, but avoid answering direct questions.

If you have fewer colors, it is probably harder for someone to actually count them while they are penned together - after all, who can accurately count a moving flock that looks alike in color? Just don't let her count them at night, when they are on the roost. It is easier to accurately count them when they are sitting still.

You have to be really careful. Some of the judges (one in particular) are very tough.
