Monty, one thing I did notice about the NPIP rules that it said "...they must be tested prior to introduction into existing flock" which technically means you could buy the birds and then have your local NPIP tester (at home) test them before you put them with your other birds.... I think...
Anyway, I do not see why all the birds at the swap would have to be tested, because there could still be swapping between non-NPIP flocks.
I think the best option would be to have a certified tester present at the meeting. Then, if an NPIP breeder wanted to buy non-NPIP birds, they could test just those. That might work...

Hi fellow Okies!

I hope everyone weathered the storms OK. I can't wait to get home & check on all my critters to make sure all is well. Just one hour away til I get off work.

My daughter went to a specialist today. They did an ultrasound. The baby's heart appears to be fine but they found something else to be concerned with. The Dr said there is extra fluid in the baby's belly, which could be a sign of chromosomal abnormalities or infections or a perforated bowel or a bunch of other things.
They drew 6 vials of blood to run a bunch of tests to try to find out what might have caused it, and if nothing shows up there they might do an amniocentesis next time to check for more things. The Dr also did an ultrasound of the cervix area and said there's a vein running along it, so my daughter may need a c-section or she or the baby could bleed to death during a normal delivery.

I pray that everything will be OK. Here's a new pic of the baby done in 3D ultrasound. Isn't she beautiful!

I am not npip tested, who do I need to contact to get it done for free if possible or cheap as possible. I have right at 100 birds including the ducks.

The Dept of Agriculture came out on Monday to renew my NPIP certificate. There is currently federal funding for Avian Flu testing, so the Dept of Ag will do the throat swab for the Avian Flu and since they are already there, they will then blood test each bird in a flock your size without additional charge. The cost should be about $10 for the NPIP certificate. My renewal certificate was $5. You can also get a certificate for your "hatchery". Be sure that the incubator is in a separate room than the brooder.
