You have a chainsaw? In the Panhandle? Do you use it as an outdoor paperweight in all that wind? (hee hee)

Monty :

I thought we had a member from Lone Grove, they got hit really hard.

I saw on kten.com that right now 8 is dead and 14 critically injured in Lone Grove. School is closed because no electricity. Over 3000 out of electricity with a population of only 4600. Hwy 70 is closed.

Those in Lone Grove need prayers and good thoughts sent their way.

I hope if any of our Okie friends are there they are okay...

Maybe that was it, Thanks. Spring seems to be coming at us a little early this yr. I wonder what some of us do to stay prepared for the strong weather season. I keep a weather radio tuned in, along with power back-up's in order to stay lit & warm. What do you do??.

I have a weather radio and I watch the tV too. I am a storm nut. I don't go chase them I just have to watch until I know everything is ok.
I think it goes back to getting hauled to the cellar everytime we had a storm when I was a kid.
Since the big May 3rd tornado back in 99 I am more nervous of them. What it did to Bridge Creek, Moore, Del City and Midwest City was unimaginable
I don't have a generator but it is on my list.

I usually just watch the chickens for storm signals.
If their feathers are moving it is windy.
If they are wet it is raining.
IF they are gone it is a tornado.

I make sure my truck has gas, and my fraidy hole cleaned out and fresh, so my mom doesn't have to worry about spiders. Then I chill a bottle of wine and load up the video camera and wait... and wait....and wait.....

I ah... hope for the best, I guess. I live in a trailer house, no fraidy hole around here. With the tv signals transitioning to digital, I won't even know the weather is coming anymore. Tried the ole' converter box and got nothing. Only channel I can get is KTEN, since KXII already switched, but KTEN will be switching in a few months.

tumbleweeds can get so thick the only way you can get through them is with a chainsaw

I have a fireplace and like to cook with real wood! Plus it will hold down a small child in the wind...or a few chickens!

When storms are coming I
1st...say ouch (cuz my wife hits me to wake me up or to stop me from turning the channel from the weather)
2nd...try to calm wife and prevent children from irritating her
3rd...fail at #3 do whatever she says
