Sounds like our BYC'ers did a Super Job at Idabel......
Congratulations !!!!!

Stimpy - remember the printed flour sacks? - LOL
I had a blue/white skirt !!!!! Bill remembers the "trade"
table at the country store that his folks had. All the
senior ladies would give him their lists of just what
colors/patterns they wanted to finish their curtains, etc.
And, heaven help him if he was out making a delivery and
showed up with the wrong color on the new bag of
flour..............

Schools back then? - I think about the funniest one I've
heard on Bill.......The local policeman came into the school
and told him, "Now, Billy, you and I know....that everyone
else in town knows.....you ain't but barely 14 yeard old !!!
Get your a*# out front and move your da*#ed truck
around to the back of the school house !!! "

Have a good one !

I love the Idea of recording people whom are older, because it not only makes the recorded feel appreciated, but it's nice to know that you'll be remembered in the next Gen. I should do that with my mom, that would be fun.

My grandmother on my mom's side has a flour sack doll she made when she was little, it looks so weird, but it's still really cool. It's got part of a label on the back of it, not sure what it says.

Is one obsessed when they start counting down the days before the chicks arrive from the hatchery? Just a question...

With all of the talk lately on the topic of exploring our family hertitage, and preserving them for future generations, got me to thinking. When I was in the Army stationed in Europe my Grandmother was still alive and very sharp, she set-up a long distance family reunion for me with all of my relitives in Italy, where I was born. I took some leave and drove to our family village outside of Palermo Sicily. to make a long story short it was a fantastic trip, I had the opportunity to meet uncles & aunts, cousins while there, most of which I didn't remember but we knew who we were and our relationship to each other. It was such a life experience for me, many of those same relitives I am still in touch with today, and with the Internet it is so much more convienant to send photo's and visit. I will never be able thank her enough for that, and now my DD and my nieces and nephews can also enjoy a feeling of connection to their roots.

Thank's STIMPY for starting & exploring this subject with us.

I have apparently made a mistake in letting my mom get on McMurrayHatchery.com to look around... she's now fallin' in love with multiple breeds... including the silkie's. Now she's canceling my order for chicks, getting hatching eggs (Not sure if thats a good idea.), wants to get silkies as well as some others (Because appeartently she likes that silkies are really broody), and hatching eggs for the silkies, since my dad says roo's aren't aloud in OKC...

Tell me, what ARE the laws against poultry in this area?

Geneology? - The side I claim "kin" to started with three young
brothers that stowed away on a ship to America from Wales.
One of them settled Rogers, Arkansas....They call their local
city wide celebration "Sikes Day" over there. On down "that"
side, we go back to Abe Lincoln's mother (Hanks) and
Wild Bill Cody, was "Coday" back then. I have a copy of a
"tin type" that was made of my Great-Great-Grandmother....
obviously she was a full blood, North Carolina, Mariah Louisiah
Glenna....but have not been able to identify which tribe, etc.
They settled in south central Missouri and, back then, they
could not own a farm if they were indian, so she would go
hide when the census takers came around. Years ago, my
middle son showed a "senior" Cherokee full-blood woman
a picture of me. She told him, "there's no doubt about it....
she's a Commanche." He cracked up and told her, "hum...
that explains it ! "

All that has been found on "that other side" is Black Prince
Charles of England......They kicked him out for stealing horses....
.......thus the label....He was "black balled" from returning.
May be where my "other side" comes from.....But, I figure it's
that full blood........LOL

Have a good one !

Family history...............my grandmother told me a long time ago be very careful delving into our history............she ment it.

I just candled the 23 day old blrw that were mailed. NONE and I do mean NONE even developed. I want some blrw anyone have some locally.

Gerald and I went to the Blanchard auction last night. I think it was more crowded than ever before, but of course because of the weather there were fewer birds. We didn't bring much because of that, but took a lot of hatching eggs and a few birds. Prices seemed to be good, but not fantastic. Our hatching eggs only sold from $2.25 to $4.50 a dozen. I need to put them on ebay more often! We sold 6+ royal palm turkey eggs on eBay last night for $32.50 and 6+ Wheaten Marans for $36.00 !!!! ... Speaking of that, I've got to get off here and help Gerald wrap some eggs. Those ebay auctions just ended in the past few days and now I need to get them off in the mail. Thank goodness the OKC airport post office is open 7 days a week!

I don't know what Gerald's going to do when I'm no longer able to help him with the birds ... seriously downsize I hope! My new grandbaby should be born in less than a month & then I'm going to be the babysitter before work every day ... I think.

Hey guys

Back from church...I was up late last night... Feeling krappy and anxious so... stared at the ceiling... wached nothing on TV (thank God for Forensic Files). This morning came quick. Sucked it up and went to church... Felt MUCH better after... came home to check chickies, Still 2, but one is pipping. It was pretty funny. I gave Mrs. Squeaky some boiled egg and water. (it can't smell any worse in that offoce now). She was thirsty! But it was fun watching her trying to get the chicks to eat.... then the one that is pipping stuck it's beak out the hole as far as it could like, "Hey! I want some!) They are so cool to watch.... will get pics out later...after a huge bowl of cookie dough ice cream and a nap.
