I hope they are all there!! If you are having the rain we are hopefully they were in the house!

P&B, I have one qt water that I have the same trouble with. I am so glad they are outside where they now have the gal size. Checked on them earlier and they are having a ball scratching around in the dirt, wood chips and hay.

I too have forgotten to lock the door a time or two. I put these heavy duty springs on all my doors so they close regardless, that has saved me a time or two.

Wow, finally caught up with 20 pages of chattiness over the last day or so...

I went to the doc on friday afternoon and he gave me a 60 mg shot of Kenalog in the booty and put me on a massive dose of antibiotics...875mg of amoxil twice a day. Still feeling a little congested but not as run down as I was before that's for sure.

Drove down to my best friends house in Atoka last night and stayed over to go shopping with her today. We hit a bunch of antique stores and then found their farmer's market. I couldn't resist the chicks but only purchased 3 EE pullets. The dude said they were aracaunas, but who knows...they look like EE to me and all he knew for sure was that they laid "blue/green" eggs. There was a lady there selling some welsummer hens for $15 a piece and some self blue OEGB's but I passed. And a couple more people selling chicks....I also managed to bring home an 8 week old black lab/blue heeler mix from my friend....she looks all lab and we named her Gracie.

I'm picking up a dozen welsummer hatching eggs and a dozen blue andulasian hatching eggs from okiehen tomorrow afternoon! I can't wait. I've got to get those last three duck eggs either hatched or out in the next few days so I can sanitize the incubator and get it going with these eggs asap. The two ducklings are in a brooder now and doing fantastic...they are so stinking cute and so inquisitive...everytime I talk to them they run over and tilt their heads to see me. Today was day 28 for the last three duck eggs, and no cracks yet, so I'll let them be for a couple days then they are goners.

Gonna go get me a big glass of ice cold water and take me some nyquil and head to bed....catch up with the rest of ya'll tomorrow!

I really only put them on because of the wind here and the fact that I can use both hands to carry stuff around and don't have worry about closing the door. I even put a simple locking lever on them you never know.

I've always been scared of really stout springs since I had one slam a door on a young bird and killed it a few years ago. I guess I'll have to go with the lesser of two evils though. I can't take a chance on leaving a gate open and losing them all at once.

Okiehen is in Spiro and I don't believe she'll be at POOPS, but I think she said she will be sending some eggs with someone....please correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Sonya - now *really* heading to bed!!

yea that is true, I guess mine are not that stout because they don't need alot of preasure to open them. Well i didn't fall off the roof this morning LOL wasn't too bad.

Today was great here. I got a lot done, and got a lot more planned for tomorrow. Depending on how many birds I might have lost due to the open gate, I'll probably build some larger brooder pens.
