Looks like what we call a Rat snake,What do you think that guy is going to eat when he runs out of mice and rats? maybe you could buy mice from teach and feed him, and he won't bother your chicks or eggs.. It could happen.. I don't think so but you never know I would think it would depend on what is easier for him/her to get

Good Morning .......

I haven't been on in a few days and trying to get caught up on reading the post but............

I had one hatch from the eggs from poops yesterday and am looking for the rest to start today.

I have lost 17 of the welsummers to the rain. Put them outside and the storm came in that night. Oh well, I have plenty left but just hate to loose any.

That is for sure. I may try to hit some of the farmers markets in a few weeks and see If I cant get some good deals on veggy's. One of my daughters got me a sauce maker for mothers day/birthday. Can not wait to get it out and use it. Also gonna "try" next week to make some canned chili and baked beans.

Mornin all :

Still soggy here but things went just fine last night. I may have miscalculated hatching times on these quail, I have about 8 out now and teach some are the brown ones, so does that mean they are tuxcedo or??? other kind.

Hey Queen!!!
You chickens are doing well through the rain and all. They escaped out of thier pen 2 days in a row!!! I ask Shaun if he forgot to latch the house and of course his answer was "UH I think so!". Kids!!

Another weekend at work ICK!! I was sick, sick, sick last night!! I think I may have to make a Dr's appt. I just keep putting it off. It is one of those girl appts and I just HATE it. But if I keep hurting this bad and taking as much painkiller as I have been it needs to be done.

We had a HUGE duck hatch yesterday. The hen left the nest and this guy had started pipping, so we rushed him in the house in to the incubator. Well after a few hours with no progress and no beak showing I did the big NO NO. I helped him out of his egg. He is HUGE!! and the little sucker had turned him self around in the egg and he was in a pickle. So I am definately glad I helped him out. We are calling him Herman, as in Herman Munster cause he is a Munster duck!!
John says NO MORE DUCKS!! But we will see

I have to say last night the girls were watching them hatch and I was in another room and you could hear them oooooing & aaaaaaing and gigling, it was priceless so worth making this incubator with a big viewing window.

I am in huge trouble! I went to Atwoods yesterday and they had new chicks "Silkies". just two of them though. I got a blue and a black. My husband freaked and is threatening to never work on my chicken run again. I think I have a problem I cannot resist the cute little things.

I have vowed really and truly not to go to Atwoods. I PROMISE, at least until chicks are gone.

Is there chick anonymous?

Here is how I use to do it before the incubator. Just add them amongst the other chicks. Heck what is 2 more to 40 chicks. it is hard to count all them running around.
