Okies in the BYC The Original

Work has slowed down considerably this week, I sure hope the phone rings today.

Try this :
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp ground sage
1 tsp ground thyme
1 tsp course grind pepper
a dash or two of your favorite hot spice
ground cayenne, red pepper flakes, ground chiles.

blend well with a wire wisk, you can baste this on for the last 30 min of cooking even over heat without burning. for the fish use the cream and E.V.O.O. and add dill weed and and some old bay that should do very nice for the fish.

I use the cream and the olive oil often as a base for white sauces often, it blends well and doesn't seperate, plus you can really put the heat to it without fear.

Thanks Al and I already have everything except the cream. I buy 1/2 gal usually and with the Okie trip it went bad, well about a cup and 1/2 did.

Oh well, next trip to Costco and I'm back in business. I am going to maybe try the other just for a top sauce if I get a chance, I'll let you know.

Good luck with work, something will come around. Construction out here is pretty much at a standstill right now.

Hi Stimp, I think that those numbers have changed a bit, maybe even reversed. Right now I think LV leads in home foreclosures and the school district enrollment is down. The vote is for the title of the recipe thread on the forum section Egg, Chicken, & Other Favorite Recipes here on BYC. You guys will have to decide what should make the list as far as recipes for favorites dishes that were served at POOPS and such. Your title recommendation appears to have won. Which do you prefer, "POOPS On A Plate" or "POOPS On Your Plate"?

Funny that you mention the living in a tent. My wife use to fly from DFW to Vegas some and some of the 'cowboys' on the flight out were all drinking and loud saying how they were going to win big with this system they had found. The trip home was really quiet!

I love this. Believe me I would be just a quiet!!

I used to laugh at people who complained about losing more money than they could afford. Until one day when I was in the Corps, and I had a 3 hour layover in Las Vegas, and I lost a months pay without ever leaving the airport. I don't laugh any more.

Ok I know we have discussed chicken illnesses before but I need some quick advice. ( A reminder really)
My ten month old and eight month old chickens are doing poorly.
Droopy. laying around sleeping, Some are wheezing.
I hadn't had any problems until this week. Now it looks like the whole chick flock is afffected.
I don't think the storm Saturday helped either.
What should I treat them with? I'll get it in the morning I just need to know what they got and what to get to fix it.
Thanks,
Monty

I've been having some birds disappear lately, so I had my grandson set some traps. Saturday, he caught a huge coon in one of our feed barrels. Tonight, we caught 3 more in another feed barrel. The barrel was empty, so I'm just going to lock the lid down on it and fill it with water. Serves them right.

What you need is a pack of coyotes. That will solve your raccoon problem! We have coyote sing-alongs from all four compass directions from dusk until about 9:30 p.m. We rarely have nocturnal visits from raccoons any more. I have had to install an electric wire around the base of the chicken runs, though, to discourage the coyotes.

If coyotes don't do the trick, then you can try young, energetic cattle. They jump the cattle guard on a regular basis and patrol the chicken run area in search of grass that hasn't been cut. Blundering, stumbling, juvenile bovine are an excellent raccoon repellent.

Gee Buckguy I hope you don't start loseing them. I am not for sure what to advise, maybe some terrimycian,or sulmet. Maybe even worm them. I have some bantams doing something like that also, just kind of not thriving. I gave them some electrolytes and vitamins in their water, next I'm going to worm them. Maybe someone can tell us a miracle drug!
