I've been reading articles on the swine flu tonight that are somewhat interesting.

~ Apparently it is very similar to the flue of 1918 that killed millions of people, and that elderly people that had been exposed to that virus have immunities to this one.

~ Vaccines are being developed, but the strains are not developing well in chicken eggs --- used to make all flu vaccines.

~ The swine flu targets the lungs, and can cause gastrointestinal effects.

~ Obesity is a known risk factor

There are 67 confirmed cases of the swine flu now at the Air Force Academy in Colorado, with 121 having flu-like symptoms.

Just a little scary to read about.

I found the swine flu articles thru the Drudge Report. It's a conservative website that has links to lots of great articles: http://www.drudgereport.com/

I guess I should look on the GSA & DRMO auctions for an airplane to convert into a chicken coop!

Gerald likes it that his big ol' truck doesn't require any special driver's license too. He's got his tagged with a retired air force tag too! And, he bought a trailer that is the bed of a deuce, so it matches his truck. He wants to take it along on his parades, but it's leaking something from a cylinder or something ... heck I don't know where it's leaking ... but he's very unhappy about it

The trailers had hydraulic brakes so it is probably a wheel cylinder. A 10 dollar rebuild kit should fix it right up.

There will be an axle going up at auction Sat. where I work. I will check it to see if it's in good shape.

The listing for the auction is on Craig's List.

I had my POOPS shirt on but the sun kinda messed it up.
My chicks have recovered nicely. I still have three or four that are iffy but they are on meds. If they don't show some improvement in the next few days I will probably go ahead and cull them.

Not nearly as toasty as last Thursday. Time and Temp at the bank said it was 129 Deg. It was so hot that I could not stand to have my arm out the window on the way home.

Kingfisher's official reporting station is not in town but East of it on a hill where it seems the wind always blows.

My thermometer in the shop only read 115 today, last friday it was maxed at 120.

Tina you have thoughts and prayers coming from here too.

Kingfisher itself sits in a low spot and it seems that the temps go extreme in both directions. Told the boss I had to light the torch just so I could stay cool!

The last two weeks I have had to wear gloves just so I can handle my tools. What is funny is that I have a direct reading water temp gauge on the truck and even sitting for close to eight hours the water temp had only dropped about 20 degrees.

They are giving her steroids to help the babys lungs. To make a long story short, I think they got the due date wrong. I cant sleep now I have my grandson or I would be at the hospital getting the same no sleep. I will be at the hospital tomorrow. If we get a baby tomorrow I will call Steph and I am sure she can let ya'll know.

I have to work 2 hours overtime tonigh

At least I can surf the web when I'm not busy. It helps me stay awake.

Hey, did ya'll know that Wasp spray is recommended by some to be a good alternative to pepper spray for protection against assailants? Heck, I just thought it was a great way to kill angry wasps ... which I try to leave 'em alone, since they are considered beneficial insects ... wasps kill catapillers which eat my plants.

Here's the info if anyone wants to read about it http://www.snopes.com/crime/prevent/waspspray.asp

I
think I'll get some wasp spray to keep around for myself and my daughter.
