Slightly are you all going to POOPS on Friday? If so I will get with you all at the fair and try to arrange following you all down. I was also wandering do you happen to know who is over the Wyandotte Chapter of 4-H?

Hi..Thanks for responding..Gofer crowed some this morning..Not at all yesterday, but he's not eating as much as he was while on the antibiotic..He is picking the seeds though, and eating banana, watermelon, ( he particularly went after the watermelon seeds), grapes and tomato..I figure at least he gets fluid from the fruits..
I got some Manna Pro Comprehensive Pelleted Suppliment today and he picked very little of that..Also got the vitamin and electrolyte soluble powder..Gave him a new water dish that I'm SURE he can reach, but have not seen him dip into it, so am still using the eye dropper, which he resists more often than not now by shaking his head or otherwise dodging..
No..At least I don't think it was fighting through the fence that did it, though I have had to remove him about 3 times from the fence in the past when he was fighting and got a spur hung on the fence..He was always ok though..He had to have fallen from the roost limb this time and no doubt landed on the edge of a brick..The bricks were there to hold a bucket in place so it would'nt roll..He liked to get in it when it rained sometimes, though always spent his nights on the roost..
I will try eggs..He will at least try them..He never had banana before yesterday, or tomato before today..but he seemed to like both..
Has anyone ever determined about how much a chicken drinks during a day? I have no clue how much they SHOULD drink..But I don't think Gofer is getting enough, unless that whitish dry looking skin on his face and back of his head is from something else..and it may be, as the bright red color that is usual is going away a bloth at a time..His comb is still red, except when it gets blotches of dark almost purple color..
I do not find ANY bugs on him...

Disclaimer: the folks on this board are really nice, but there a lot of enablers here too. If you have any addictions to poultry auctions, hatching eggs, or collecting poultry - we will do whatever we can to make sure you get all you want. If you don't have any addictions yet regarding poultry, hang around. We can help you change.

I have to say that your disclaimer is not a false statement lol I started with 6 chickens, 3 white rocks and 3 red sexlinks and now I have so many different breeds and always looking for more!!!! You can never ever have to many chickens!!!!

You know, I would LOVE to have more chickens..but I know my limits on how much I can reasonably take care of.. Right now, the 4 roosters I have left is all I can handle with all the dogs and cats that are here too.. Some day when I get rich and can hire good helpers, I will then probably have a huge place with all kinds of chickens and other creatures..

Buster - does anyone in the US have Brazilians?
I have New Zealand Whites, Californias, Flemish Giants and some "mutts" I get the best meat to bone ratio and growth with a NZ x California or a Flemish x NZ
Flemish have large bones so although they get large relatively quickly, there isn't much meat on them compared to the quantity of bone.

Wow, and here I thought you were talking about chickens.

My husband went to Atwoods to pick up some small thing and came home with a bunch of birds. He had 10 chickens, six guineas and four ducks. The next week, he stopped in to pick up some more feed and came home with eight more chickens and four more ducks. We have since weeded out most of the males and are left with the following. I have no clue what kind of chickens I have. There are four red, four black/gold pullets and one red rooster I have five pearl guineas and five ducks. Two of the ducks are mallard and two are pekin. I have one duck that is a mutt, I'm sure. Actually I believe only my guineas are pure, and I'm not 100% sure of that. I live in a rural town in western Oklahoma called Foss.

Don I am sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. She sounds like it would be fun to have her around.

Lynn I hope that you all get to the bottom of what is with Dakota.

Welcome to all the new faces which I hope we will get to see at POOPS.

C1 I will drift over to your other thread and read up on it. There stil may be a few tricks to be tried.
