It seems like during these turbulant times any low bid is just not low enough, but the A/C idea is a winner.

Hey your from Tribbey. I am not that far from you. I live off 180th just 3 miles south of HWY 9. I used to live a bit closer but I bought a place a bit closer to Norman (10 miles). Have you gone to the Evans auction? It is just east of Lexington, every Monday starting I think at 6pm. Right now may not be the best time to go since the heat has kept alot of people away.
Hope you can make it to POOPS, it is a blast.

Hello, so you are on the hunt for peafowl. Aw I know how that it. I finally have 9 which I have hatched a bunch of dud eggs and had so many chicks die I almost gave up. Finally I lucked out and have a good selection.
There is a guy in the Pauls Valley area who sells them his number is 405-488-5498 if you buy direct from him he charges $25-30 a piece for little ones, adolecence and adults are more. Just to let you know he does sell some of his peachicks at the Blanchard auction (Next one is this Saturday). I can tell you that his birds are really healthy and are pretty friendly.

Here is a link to an ad on craigslist. http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/grd/1293567566.html The prices seem a bit high to me but it doesn't say how old the birds are. If they are older then that is not an unreasonable price.

Here is another ad for peacocks and various other birds located in Payne/Lincoln county http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/grd/1308657775.html so you may want to try them.

I have gotten all of my peafowl from auctions mostly chicks. I bought 12 eggs this year and tried to hatch them and ended up with one surviving chick, who is now 2 1/2 months old and doing fine. With what I spent on eggs would have paid for half of the chicks I have now.

If you are looking for a specific breed just ask around. I have white, pied spaldings, indian blue and black shoulder indian blues. May try to get a couple of more chicks next year but for now 9 is good. If I hear of any other sources I will let you know. Also contact Auctionlover here on Okies BYC, her and her husband run the Blanchard auction and she may know of some people who are selling peachicks.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your search, sometimes that is half the fun.
Rebecca

Which piece do you need to save to identify one?

I don't save any piece of them ... Gerald throws all pieces in to the guinea pens and nothing is left after a few minutes. Those guineas sure do appreciate a good high protein meal once in a while!

Currently, I have 5 adult Narragansett turkeys, 3 teenager Narragansetts and ????? poults. The poults are confined to a flight pen for their own safety, until they get as large as an adult bantam chicken. All of the adults and teenagers free range. Several of the adult hens are sitting on nests, so we will hopefully have more poults in the next few weeks. I haven't disturbed them to see if they have all turkey eggs or a mixture of turkey and guinea and duck eggs.

It should be illegal to brag about having turkeys.

All I have seen thus far are Blacksnakes, Kingsnakes, Copperheads and little grass snakes..
I don't kill snakes, I remove them...I don't even remove the Blacksnakes or Kingsnakes because I don't have baby chicks or eggs, and Kingsnakes will eat Copperheads (the ones I don't see and remove, that is.)
