There have been a lot of sightings especially in the last five years or so.
A park ranger I know saw two in the road by Dripping Springs Lake West of Okmulgee. I have never seen one in Oklahoma but I know they are out there. The black ones I'm not so sure about though.

This has got to be the most active thread on the whole BYC! I had to be away from my computer for two days to get ready to start school, and when I finally had a few minutes (10:22 p.m.) to see what folks are talking about, I was floored!

This year I'll be guiding Sophomores through the gauntlet of Standard American English. Seventh hour I've been blessed with a high school drama class. All 31 students squeezed into my classroom today, faces beaming, waiting to be told they were going to be the next Brad Pitt or Jennifer Aniston. Friday will be their first day to do impersonations. I'm teaching all my classes as Sarah Palin that day, so maybe I'll have one of my students take a picture so I can post it here.

I'd better see what else I've neglected. Take care everyone. Maybe this weekend I'll be able to catch up on your posts again.

I've seen both the black panthers and the cougars in the Adair/Cherokee county area. Down along the Illinois River area in those wild hills they still roam around. Also had two sightings of wolves, which all the game people say aren't in Okla. too!. Believe me when you see one of those there is no mistaking it for a coyote or large dog! They are huge and silent!

My DD started her first day as a brand spanking new freshman in a newly built high school, she was quite the chatter box when she got home LOL she even accompanied me to feed while talking at full speed LOL.

I don't know about cougars and panthers but there aree spome cats tyjhat I ja ve seen that I couldn't identify cause they were to far away but I have my game cameras up for deer season so with any luck I woill get some good pics

Al did you get all that tin this morning. You will be set for a long time now.

I built my 30x40 barn 12 years ago with wood from a local sawmill and free tin. A friend of mine was going to tear down a building that was being used by the state. He asked me if I was interested in taking all the tin off so that he could get to the wood. I was out there the next day. Completely covered all walls and the roof with it.

Yes I did, Dang that Les for posting that link LOL LOL. there was about 800 sheets 14' long & 10' long all in great condition aside from a few minor sheets, I talked him down almost 75% from what he was asking and he jumped and I felt like I still left some $$$ on the table. but I feel good about it. I will load it and bring it home in the morning.

After the very fun and successful spring 2009 POOPS event there was much interest in having a fall event, we felt that we surely must let this fine tradition continue in all it's fanfare. with continued support We will strive to make this event even bigger and better than ever as our fine members deserve only the best. For those of our new members and members who were unable to attend the Okies in the BYC POOPS, it is a family oriented affair, where members come to meet the folks we talk to everyday on this forum, and enjoy the one thing we all have in common our fondness of poultry. This year promises to be one you do not want to miss, and as I stated it will be bigger and better than ever, this year we are planning the following.

2. Poultry : The usual fanatical buying/selling/swapping of poultry.
3. A night of fun filled entertainment at the clubhouse.

Monty and Myself will be posting more specifics and details on these areas in a later post. As always Monty will be seeking Donations for the clubhouse rental and the cabin reservation info at KOA. We tried so very hard to choose a date for this event that would fit 99.9% of are available members, the weather, POOPS planning and reservation schedule, and local and regional events. The good folks at KOA have been so gracious to have invited us back and we recieved some very good positive feedback from are members, that this was a good fit for our needs. As a group we are known for are steadfastness once we set our minds to a task, it is now up to each and every one of us to come together and contact the appropriate principle to offer any help and suggestions, ya'll know the drill. The principle heads will start to post a list of names and services volunteered as it begins to come together in their areas.

So Okies let the festivities begin in the tradition of the most poplular group thread on this BYC forum.

Well you got a good buy. It's hard to find any in that good of condition.

A while back I told you that my niece and her husband lived in Elgin. They moved over by the lake, in the housing addition over there. My wife's sister talked like they were in the country. We went to a birthday party early summer at there place. Wasn't anything like what I thought. Nice houses but way too close together for me.

He does work in Elgin though. My niece used to live in Cyril and before that in Chickasha.

This is for those Okies who are planning on attending the People Of Oklahoma Poultry Swap (aka P.O.O.P.S).
If you would like to donate any poultry-related item big or small, please post so here.
Some of the things we had donated last year were hatching eggs, baby chicks, poultry decor, an incubator, and rooster-theamed kitchen supplies.
Thanks so much for making this great meeting possible....again!

Grace
