No rain here yet. Was trying to get my lawn mowed before we get rain. Some of it hasnt been mowed this year( the husband and kids have been in charge of mowing) anyway, i ran over one of the kids basketballs, so no more mowing for now.

The first time I skimmed your post (it seams all I have time to do is "skim" things now!

) I thought, "I have just what Annabell needs

" Then I re-read it. What I have is a Black Cochin boy, which is what you already have

Sorry! I am sure someone at POOPS will be able to help you

I have just been sitting here lurking and reading messages all over this whole site, and I am sorry that one member felt they were not important enough to get an answer to their question.

These boards are busy enough with out answering a question that you don't have a good reply to. I read lots that I can't help with and can't ad to so just keep going, never thinking that I might be hurting someones feelings. I'm sorry for that, but I didn't see a reason to answer when someone else down the line might really be able to help.
I also had eggs I would have given them but I'm in Garvin County...too far away.

Oh well......I'm sure sorry about the black Cochin hen being gone, we sure can get attached to our feathered friends can't we?

I love this Okies in the BYC best of all places, you are such dear folks!

Hope everyone is having this awesome weather, I am putting my little incubator Blue Silkie peeps outside every day till evening, and I swear every night when I bring them in they have grown. They are in a secure pen covered with small tough hardware cloth for safety.

About chicken pens.....mine is wrapped in chicken wire and have chicken wire over top also to protect them from "dive bombers]

sorry this is so long! Still working on trying to get myself able to go to POOPS!

Its been really nice and cool here in Tn the last couple of days. I have taken advantage of it and been cleaning up garden beds. I have added about a foot of vines, flowers and garden stuff to the EE's pen. They are in heaven pecking thru all the stuff! I was sitting watching them this morning and it finally dawned on me that I was hearing a hen cackle but it was like it was far away. Finally a little black hen That I got at an auction came out of the hen house and it was her. She would be a great city cluck. Her voice is really low. It was so funny.

She is a silkie cross, but the only thing that shows is the black skin and comb. I just keep her because she is a great broody.

Andi - I had to look back to see what you were looking for - hatching eggs. I am not in the Tulsa area, so didn't respond to your request. As a practical matter, your broody hen will stay broody for awhile so you have a week or two to find her some hatching eggs. Just remove the small one she is setting in when you place a dozen hatching eggs beneath her, or remove the chick from the small egg when it hatches and brood it separate, so she doesn't leave her nest.

Hope this helps a little.

WHO IS IN THE TULSA/SAPULPA are that can help Andisgarden out with some hatching eggs?

I actually called her today about a different matter and am sending her some eggs to hatch out. I don't get on here, either. It just goes too fast and things do get lost in the shuffle. She told me about her frustration and rant and I thought I would see for myself. Thanks to those of you that did respond and offer eggs.

You would think that with as many post per day as the Okies have, they might deserve their own section so it could be broken down into Random Ramblings, B/S/T, get-togethers, things like that. I know BYC probably doesn't want to seem like they are favoring us, but it is pretty much impossible to post to the Okie forum with a question. I was looking for a pullorum tester last week and got no response. Posts just get lost too quickly.

I've had people from here ask me to post but I can't read 20+ pages a day to keep up with all the news. Maybe if all of us ask for our own section they might consider it? They'd probably find that it would really bring a lot of us out of the woodwork!

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say Andi was taken care of. Thanks to those that listened to her. She was a little stressed out with school and kids and a surprise broody!

She's a really great person and loves to talk chickens!

Maybe Monty (since it is his thread we are all posting to) or someone could start several Okie threads with titles according to interest areas.

I've stopped trying to keep up. I click on the last one or two pages to see what is going on, then move on to other things.

That would be a great idea, but I don't think the mods would allow it.

There has to be something else to do? Maybe if we drown their inbox with requests for an Okie section??

Lawton's Atwoods is a terrible place to get chicks. Real hit and miss on breeds, and they don't list what they are. We used them just for our experimental birds to learn how to get started and see if we really wanted to. No more, though.
