I like. Doubt I'll ever get my husband to build one. He works much better with metal than wood.

I found a trick with mine. He doesn't like me playing with his tools so the fact that I have already started cutting he will jump in and to help me finish it without having to let me use them. LOL, we don't work well together when building or re-modeling so it is always interesting. I would of like this to be metal at the bottom, so you didn't have to worry about rot on the bottom 2X4's but I will deal with this for now or just set it above the ground on blocks.....and extend the wire down.

Evening folks...y'all sure were chatty! Thought I would come home and re-arrange some birds and put some birds that are about laying age with a roo and well...after picking up bodies and kicking a dog I don't have to worry much about that...

Lost a great trio of brassy back OEGBs...my roos for Ra...three roos i was gonna breed cool mutts with...well actually one was a round head i was gonna put with Shamos...guess i get to rethink things...stupid dog...

Me and the wife don't work together either!

Son just walked in with a missing bird!!!! Lost about 20 and have 6 MIA...one is Gomer! Henny - I lost gomer! I am really upset about that one!!!! Maybe he will return tonight...gonna go look for lost birds!

Aww teach I'm sorry seems like everyone is getting hit!!

I have been lucky so far with the dogs anyways, been a while since they got any birds outside of the backyard (one flew in, not their fault).

DH just came home and he likes my idea, says we will build two of them so we have a place for the black cochins that are coming. We will start to build tomorrow evening if I can wait that long. He even had a really good idea to modify the door on the bottom.

You guys are gonna really like that little coop! My BB Reds seem to like it just fine, wish the hens would start laying. Moses (my roo) is sure doing his part,

I'm posting these pics again because you might be interested in some of the changes I made. On the inside I put in a plywood floor except for the back 8 inches, there its open to the bottom run and I put in a ramp so they can go up and down.... silly me, they don't seem to use it, they just fly up and down.

To the front of that 8 inch opening I attached a 2x4 the width of the coop and another at the front making the floor into a 3.5" deep box & filled it with pine shavings, a mini deep litter method if you will, works great!

Best of luck with yours! Be sure to post some pics when it's done.

Matt

Ill let you know! School nurse called me at work an I had my daughter out of school by noon Wedsnday. She starts to do better then the drainage gags or coughs her tills he sicks up. The fever comes and goes. Most the time she only feels a little off then it times to dose her with medicine. I think my wife may be taking her to the DR tommarow. All they will do is give her antibiotics (never fails with the indian hospital) and she will leave with an ear infection (i think thats there escuse for all the amoxicylin they give away) no matter if her ear hurts or not. Right now id be more worried leaving the hospital with something worse than I went in with. I hope your youngone gets better and the babie avoids it all together. Hope you dont catch it as well.

Those look like big and I mean BIG round worms, tapeworms are segmented

Yes the meds will kill the adults, the larvea and the eggs.

For a bad infestation some bleeding is normal as it occurs when the worms die and then turm loose. When thinking of worms they act like a leech, they suck blood. every now and again the bird will bleed to death when they turn loose but this is usually within a day of treatment.

Yes it is like giving your dog your food and then wondering why you can't gain weight.

As bad as they were though I would re-treat in a month to make darn sure everything is gone. As bad as the infestation was there could have been some that were missed but I doubt it.

MAllen, how long did it take you??? I will be using mine for bantam Cochins. I like your idea's I will have to show DH when he gets home. We will be starting tomorrow evening!

Thank you for sharing.

Hi all, how is everyone tonight? I have a friend that has some young (this years hatch) Standard size Blue Cochin Roosters for sale, if anyone is interested in one or more let me know, I am going out Saturday evening to look at them and pick one out for me, he said they range in color from light blue to black, some are blue with red in the neck hackles, they all came out of Blue blood lines from Ideal Hatchery stock. I started at about 10am and had it built by the end of the day, then put the wire on the next morning and had the chickens in it by noon. I goofed off a lot the day I built it, I'm really pretty lazy ... really.

When you build yours if you don't put the roof on til the very last you can lay the entire coop on it's side and put the wire on, makes it a little easier and faster, wish I had a staple gun, I use regular ones that you hammer in.
