Good morning everyOkie - here's wishing you all a fantastic day!

I agree with you on the chilly weather, sjarvis - brrrr!!

I have a dumb question about NPIP - Les talked to me a little about it at POOPS, but I didn't get to ask this:
"I have a flock of 12 laying pullets. I don't trade birds in or out; I don't have plans to sell my girls to eat; and I don't have a rooster, so no hatching eggs. What is the advantage for me to have my flock NPIP tested?"

You will be able to use the NPIP logo when selling eggs which add just a little value in this time of many recalls for food.

Plus if you get a state tester out to do the flock chances are they will test also for Avian Influenza (AI) and you will be certified AI clean.

Hmmm.... that would make it more difficult to be pulled off too. Thanks Les!

He is probably doing that to protect the birds from any sharp wire sticking out that wont lay lown and could injure or scrape feathers. It makes allot of sense I have done it on my big pen doors to protect me when going in & out.

PAINT!!! You painted it?!?!

That's just not fair at all..... now I gotta paint mine, break out the crimson & cream.

LOL yeah I know silly for chickens but I wanted to protect the wood. Think I will add an OU to the outside!! I can't wait to show you. Now that the paint is dry it won't take anytime to get it put together tonight!

My NN hens go head to head with my young asil stag all the time. It's funny as all get out to watch them stalk towards each other. The asil starts lowering his wing and picking up stuff off the ground while the NN hen is standing as tall as she can get, growling away at him. So far, the NN hens come out on top!
