Buster : Good to hear the Turkeys came out OK, dry plucking is not for me, you gotta get one of those gimondo pots like the one I brought to your hooch that day we processed a few. I told you if your not careful they won't fit in the oven LOL.

TJ's Na-Na :

P&B - LOL I'm one up on ya !!!!! This plant is 1/2 mile from
the house and Bill was up there with his uncle earlier this week.
I wasn't sure I believed the story, so sent Bill back up there
today and had him buy 2 8 1/2 lb. roasters - $5 each..................
Stuck one of them in the oven this afternoon.....Pa-Pa just
sat his plate down.........and the verdict is..........FANTASTIC !!!!!

Now for the rest of the story - Oh, we are well acquainted with
Mr. Jones. At the get-go, several of us out here at Gideon
fought him like wildcats. He works with the court system and
sets these deals up...... the drug/alcohol/etc. offenders can
go to jail/prison....or they can sign up for "his" half-way house
situation and work for meals/lodging/cigarettes for the duration.
Our initial objection to his set-up was that it was 1/4 mile north
of us right here on the highway and we were not notified ahead
of time what he was doing and what type of people would be
housed right here in our neighborhood. Since we are "out of
town" there were no zoning laws and the District Attorney
told us that we were wasting our time.

We have been greatly relieved that none of us out here have
had any problems with these folks and can only pray that they
are doing better for themselves once finished with this
program. It was a scarry situation at the get-go, but has
worked so far. I totally realize that this kind of a program
could possibly make the difference for a person in that
situation, but we weren't sure at the get-go....being parents
of young children right down the road.

This new highway project, that is threatening to run their
new yellow line right through our livingroom, IS taking their
place on the far side of the hill. When Mr. Jones gets his
settlement for his place up there, he will be building a new
housing facility 1/2 mile west of us, near the processing
facility.

But, Bill did go all the way through their plant and visited with
the USDA inspector that is on duty over there. It looks totally
"up to par". Mr. Jones has asked Bill to help him with his
"gigantic" incubators once he gets them set. So.............
"All" seems well out here at the metropolis of "Gideon".....LOL

And, just watched the weather....They have upped our rain
forecast to just under 6" of rain. Hey, 14-mile Creek is 60 feet
from our back yard gate and the horses are on the other side. I've
seen 14" diameter trees coming down that thing twice since
I got here in '98. Crud,.... is gonna wash all the big bass clear to
Lake Ft. Gibson...................

Have a good one !

Thanks for telling "the rest of the story." What a small world!!!
I was wondering how they could raise and process the chickens for only $5, but it sounds like they have inexpensive labor in the form of folks who are trying to change their lives and get transitioned back into the mainstream of life - on the right side of the law.

That's a great price! Next time I raise a 50 pound turkey I'll give him a call.

I forgot to ask him if they do turkeys. We were discussing chickens at the time

I would like to raise some turkeys and have someone else process them. I think that Oklahoma Lightening has someone lined up to do her turkeys for her..... and I bet it will be more expensive than $1.50 per bird.

Hi all, I have been in and out the last few days, Cammie they have an Eagle Rehabilitation Center at the Iowa Tribe south of Perkins Ok. I may have a few Standard size Blue Cochins Roos for sale if anyone is interested, Lynn

Hey, Al. I'm going to use a metal garbage can if I can ever find something to heat it with.

That is great to hear but you have to share pictures!! I don't really understand what you are talking about on your horse panels but would love to see pic's when you get it done. Never know that might be something I can steal from my DH. LOL.
