Al my kids have one of those wooden tree houses with the monkey bars that come off of it, well the bottom is open and weeds just grow there so I am either going to make it for Carolyns cochins or I am going to make it for the Marans that I will be picking up tomorrow!!!

That sounds kinda neat, a George of the jungle themed chicken house, now don't that beat all LOL. you da man, isn't it neat that we can make almost anything into a cool coop for the chickens.

AL

Al I agree I am all the time finding things that work wonderful for coops, I have one that is a air darn off the top of a peterbuilt and my Polish love it!!

Yes, what she said... we need a local dub-er!

I grew up dubbing game roosters, however, dubbing for the game pit and dubbing for show might not be exactly the same type or style of dubbing you're looking for.

I am so pi$$ed. I just called my mom. She is doing better, but is back to bawling her eyes out...I can't be in there enough....I am so frustrated all I want to do is cry. I swear I can't win anymore. It's enough to make ya blow your brains out. I'm dead off my arse... taking 2 kinds of stomach medicine, getting migraines now, and my heart is acting up...what's left? Im doing the very best I can...

Grace are you needing a roo or hen? I have the roo I posted pics of an I can also get hen's from my BIL.

If it was a nice enough one I would take a rooster, I have one already and a couple of cockerels, but I could always sell them to up-grade. Where are pictures?

Let me see if I still have them on this computer, if not they are on the one at work.....give me a minute.

Hennies! You are doing the best you can, and that's all anyone can ask of you. Your mom is so fortunate to have you, and the fact that you're frustrated you can't do more just shows how much you care. I wish there was an easy answer for you - but just know you are doing good and don't beat yourself up!!

to all the new folks!!
a bit soggy here, creek is running, glad we reinforced the pen! poor guineas got trapped at the wrong side of the creek and had a heck of a time trying to decide whether it could be hopped over! poor bedraggled things!

just about the time we get dried out- finally got the coop waterproofed, once it dries out again i think we'll try Als technique, tin on the roof.

Update on grandson- turns out he had run out of antidepressants about three weeks ago, which contributed to his problem- and his welcome home was hugs and tears- so i think that helped him some- (in therapy for lots of stuff he dealt with before his dad got custody) By the way, anyone know the muskogee city regs on chickens? Daughter is getting curious....gvb

and now you all have been updated with out situation- have a safe evening folks!!

Grace it looks like the pic must be on my work computer or the one that got hit by lightning. I lost the little hen so all I have it the roo here that I can get pic's of. I will take pic's as soon as the rain passes if I don't find them tomorrow at work.

I just had one of those oh-XXXX moments. I started working on a wire pen. (I know it's dark but I have a porch light and I really want to get some chickens in a real pen.) So I started unrolling my wire. I measure out eight whole feet (4 sides to be held together by j clips) with a measuring tape. So as I'm standing one foot on the roll and the other on the long end, I start cutting the wire. Which I wind up on my knees using both hands to get the last few strands cut. As I cut the very last strand and I realize I'm now not standing on the wire that still wants to roll up and the split moment before it hit my head, I knew I had messed up. I'm sure some of you know what I mean. Kind of like Wylie E Coyote watching the rock that he was tied to fall off of the cliff. Instantly, I reached up to my forehead and already had a handful of blood. And it wasn't hurting at all. I know that is never a good sign. By the time I got to the bathroom, I had blood all over my face. Luckily, it was one little jab in the center of my forehead. (It hit me in my third eye.) I couldn't believe how much it bled. I'm so glad I don't have to get stitches this time. Anyway, I have my feeling back and I've got the worse headache now. Even my nose, teeth and the back of my head hurts. Did I mention eyes... So glad it didn't hit lower though. I hope I don't end up with a big black & blue bruise in the middle of my forehead (it already has some swelling to it) or worse yet it fall to my eyes. I was definitely not using my head or maybe using it too much. Whichever...

Moral of the story: If you are using tools, keep your mind on the task at hand!

I'm usually better than that.

I think I'm going to go watch TV now. It's much safer.
