Monty....I think you and I missed the war games. I've had to get ready for a baby shower tomorrow for a co-worker so I had to miss out on the fun. I've got to get in there and decorate the cake or I'll get shot for sure.

Nite all.

A big mess. Don't go there.

When I got Marans, I sold all of my barred rocks. Its crazy trying to tell the chicks apart although the "experts" say they can do it.
Besides that, if you do cross them then you will dilute the dark egg color of the Marans and defeat the purpose of having them.

hello Monty, boy it got quiet when you showed up! I was looking at your page, what other interesting boards are you on? I haven't found any that stay as busy as this one!
How do you like the golden campines? Are they small like the hamburs? I have been watching a pair of bantam goldens on eggbid, they sure are tempting!lol. I would like to get some bantamgoldens and also silver bantams.

County - I sent you a PM with information on ordering those antibiotic free and additive free chickens from the Oklahoma processor. Since you cook, you may have to start doing your cooking from scratch to avoid MSG.

Hi, I am on darkegglayers, Marans, Welsummers, Chickens101. Poultryswap and eggswappers. To be honest I can't keep up with them. I try to at least read what is on the Mrans, Welsummers, and darkegglayers boards. None of them are as busy as this one but do provide good information.

I like the Campines but since I have been drifting more and more into the dark egg world, I might try and sell them at some point.
They lay well and aren't near as flighty as people say. They are about the size of Hamburgs or games. The hens are about the same size as a standard game hen but the roos aren't as big as game roos.
I have never seen the bantams. I used to have silvers but sold that line a few years back.

The chinese restaurant I go to has a big sign that says No MSG!
I don't know if its true but I do know that Oriental places have the rep for using it.

that is probably why I like oriental food so well - from all nationalities, unless it is too spicy.
At the Korean store, it is labeled "Aji No Moto"

Thanks for the info poultryandbees. My biggest problem was that chinese food is my favorite, I ate hot dogs for breakfast, and hubby likes to season everything with Lawry's. Lol. But it really hasn't been too big of a problem so far.

THAT could be confusing

I agee that a table of abbreviations somewhere would be helpful. I appreciate the answers this evening, I had been hesitant to ask for fear of showing total ignorance.

My problem is that when they take the salt out of the canned chicken soup, it tastes like water to me, so I end up adding back an amount of salt that is probably more than what was removed.
