Oh, I didn't have time to get on but for a bit. I didn't see him. I sure need to ask him some questions about my sportsman and some hatching problems. SOMEBODY CALL THE DOCTOR!!!

Your Sportman and my Dickey incubators are about the same, what's the problem? Maybe I can help.

Thanks MAllen...I keep losing chicks a couple hours after they are hatched. I have a seperate incubator and hatcher. They seem to do fine in the bator but when I put them in the hatcher they stop and don't hatch. Les sent me the site to download the book to my bator cause I bought it used even though it was only used one season. I'll probably discover it's just me...maybe I need to go back to the styrophome ones...I think I'm a little smarter than those..but this sportsman is kicking my booty....LOL

If you use Photobucket as your host it's easy. Put your courser on the pic and a little box will appear under it on the left. check that box and scroll to the bottom of the page. there will be three blue boxes, click the one on the right and a new page will pop up. choose the images for message boards and copy the text in the box. Come back here and paste that in your message. and it should turn out like this.

Sounds to me like the humidity is too high or the temperatures are too low.

YES!!!That's too funny!! I thought this sure sounded very familiar..I'm so glad you've gotten on...you're hooked now. How are the ducks doing. My roo is just fine...I gave him 3 ladies yesterday to take care of until I can find a maran hen for him. I said I wasn't going to hatch anymore duck eggs until we move but I couldn't just waste the eggs...so now I have 23 in the bator...

Cuban...that's what I thought also so I put 3 thermometers in to check it with the bator thermometer and they were all within a tenth degree of each other. I feel certain the hatcher has something going on with the temperature...going to tomorrow and turn it off and start with base one and try to find the problem.

Don't forget to check the humidity too. Too high and your chicks drown, too low and they get stuck trying to hatch.

Les, I moved the ones ready to hatch to a foam bator without a turner...don't have any more ready to come out until this weekend so maybe by then I'll have it fixed.
