For all of you who have extra books laying around (

), this site might come in handy - www.paperbackswap.com
They don't have much in the way of poultry books, but I did find a few poultry stories I wanted to buy anyway!

The way it works is, you post a book or a whole lot of books, and when someone requests one of yours and you mail it to them, you get to pick out any one of the million other books listed on the site! And, when you post your first ten books (you don't even have to mail them... just post them!) you get a book for free

Oh, if you join, please say I sent you

Grace yes this was my first show and I absolutely LOVED IT!!! My DD is hooked as well she is already picking what birds she is going to start working with. I must say it was a great first experience and have ALOT to learn!!!

thanks folks...we really appreciate it.

I am pleased with my birds. My little bro (who is 6' 6") got some as well. He already has a little flock going. He built himself a chicken mobile...it is too cool to be a tractor. We believe it is interstate worth! He built it on a boat trailer. I will try and get him to visit our site and post...don't hold me to this!

Three years I visited my first poultry show (Shawnee), and ever since then I've hit every show in a three hour radius of my home

And, we ALL have a lot to learn, you just pick up information when you can, and keep going

Thought I would show off my new American Game Bantam rooster, I'm getting him and two hens for breeding some show stock. He's not in full feather yet but his color is about right. He's just a little larger than an OEG bantam. When the Law Grey chicks I just hatched have matured I'll use one of these Golden Duckwing AGB hens to breed down the Law Grey to AGB size for showing.

I'm also driving to Monty's place in Choctaw on Monday morning to pick up a pair of AGB Hatch. I've not seen them yet but Monty says the rooster looks really good. ( Thanks Michael!! ) And I have two pair of Wheaton AGB's being shipped to me from Colorado from a well established breeder.... um... um... I'm forgetting something.... (it's a real drag getting old(er)).. O'yea, I have a pair of BB Red OEGB from the Andy Barnes line being shipped to me on Monday.

So I'm all set for raising some show chickens for the local fairs & shows in the coming year.

Teach - You're a hoot, thanks for the laughs. Er, I mean great advice. Ya...

OK Lightning - Do you really want the smiley by your name? I can give you a walk through, its not too hard.

Henney - Glad to hear your hen is doing better!!

Carla - Gerald must be doing better to be out trying to mow! The CAT scan should have showed anything that might be heart attack or stroke related. So maybe a pinched nerve?

Q - You better go to Shawnee next month, it is great!!

MAllen - That is a pretty boy! I wish I could have roos, they're gorgeous, and I actually love the crowing.

Q - I guess that would be a long drive for you. The first year I went was when we had the big ice storm the Saturday evening. It was pretty but it destroyed our trees and parts of my chicken pen that weren't finished.

Grace - How does the book swap website work?

Hubby is watching Valkyrie, which I'm not too interested in; history tells us how it ends. Lol. And I've got homework out too. But instead I'm on the BYC, of course!

That was the year I met you and Grace and Okie. They ended the show on Saturday because of the impending ice age that was about to befall us.
No power for over a week and I still have tree limbs over my big chicken pen.
Plus no BYC for a week.
Never want to do that again.

Teach, Glad you are holding up well. Still praying for you guys.
I am getting to where I like the Modern Bantams more and more.
But all I can find are roosters. I bought a Silver blue today.
I had to put some Kung Fu Panda moves on a lady who was grabbing them all for the soup pot.
