Hope she can find a room... that's a long time to be awake (says the person who is up from 430am to 1030-11pm three nights/week).

When I was in a truck I used to do it all the time but after a week or so it got really rough to do and I was much younger then. Driving is very stressful and tiring, especially at night.

if it's the 3 quart they put them on sale several times durring the winter for $10.00

They had two different ones there, one was 26 dollars and had a stainless steel liner. the one for 16 dollars was all plastic. Didn't pay attention to the size though.

I really enjoy reading these posts - I've probably learned more about chickens in the week or two that I've been on this website than in all the years I had chickens. (Those chickens never had any disease problems - just predators - wish I could say the same for these!).

I wonder if any of my grandkids would be interested in showing chickens. They are awfully young, though. The oldest is 10 and the youngest of the five is five. The little one sure has a way with animals - she can ride a horse better than any of the rest of the kids. Dogs do anything and everything she says. The cats adore her, and the chickens... well - she spoils them with treats - they are stuck in the coop until the run is finished. Little granddaughter picks clover and dandelion leaves for them. The chooks love her!

Is showing chickens expensive? I know nothing about it. If the show in Shawnee isn't too expensive to get everyone into, we may poke our noses in and look around.

I think I'll go to bed, now - I'm bushed. I was up with the chickens this morning (literally - the rooster crowing outside my window woke me up). Had a "date night" with hubby, courtesy of my employer. I fixed a nice dinner here at home, then we went to a concert at the OKC civic center - "Classical Mystery Tour." It was a Beatles tribute group and the OKC Philharmonic. We aren't big Beatles fans, but the music was fantastic!

G'nite, all!

Haven't been to bed yet, just got back from taking my little sister to the hospital; mom and dad are still with her, she is having to stay. She is not doing well at all, please keep her in your prayers everyone. Thank you.

County,
Sorry to hear about your sister. If she is as tough as you seem to be , she will be okay. I will definitely keep her in my prayers. There sure seems to be a lot of bad things hitting this group of good people.

Went to both Fletcher and Cement last night after getting off work at 6. Fletcher was kind of already winding down when we got there. Very little left, but I did have time for those free hot dogs.

It was kind of weird. Everybody was POing almost everything before the auctioneer was even finished trying to bring up the price. And they were often asking ridiculously high prices for an auction. I don't want to pick on anyone by giving examples, but it seemed like they just wanted it up on the table so they could ask a price for it and see if someone would buy it at that price. I laughed out loud at a couple of prices they asked. These really must be new people to the auction scene. Of course, that's not something the auctioneer has any control over. I got the impression at the end that is was starting to get discouraging for him and he was trying to hide it.

I looked around at what had already been sold and it looked like the pickings were light again. Although, could be people were already done by then and had been hauling off their stuff already. I think the whole thing was over before 7:00, so there couldn't have been a whole lot.

So, we headed for Cement to see what's what. Only 10 miles away so we got there by 7, and they were already done, as well. Looked like they had more birds than Fletcher, but not a whole lot more. Both auctions must have finished up at about the same time. Erlene asked someone and they said it was a light evening. I wandered around looking for people I knew. Al had left by then (he can probably give you a better take on the evening at Cement), and Michael was busy so loading and unloading birds so I didn't want to bother him.

I'm not sure what was going on last night with the auctions. What did Blanchard look like? Maybe everyone was pulled off to the big regional auction.
