Since you have been "lurking" you have undoubtedly read the standard disclaimer for this group - but I will give it anyway

This group has many people who are addicted to poultry auctions, hatching chickens and acquiring poultry. If you are not already addicted to those things, we would be happy to assist you in becoming addicted.
So, tell us about your poultry, what you have and what you would like to acquire

Sooo...just had a friend come by to check out my chickens for me. Turns out my Buff Orpingtons are actually Buff Cochins, my Welsummers are actually mutts and only half of my "Araucanas" are actually Aracaunas. What a morning.

At least I've got 22 Olive Eggers in the incubator, right?

Well if the eggs in the bator are green then the odds are 50/50 depending on breeding of parents. You should know for sure mid to late April.

Oh so you are just getting started? We have had NNs since about '90 and they still do things that totally amaze me. There has been more research done on the breed then any other it seems as there is a lot out there. One thing I really like about them is their friendliness, almost to the point of being a pest when you are trying to do something!

When the treats are all handed out most of the other breeds will go and forage, a NN will jump up in your lap and thank you for the treats!!

Thanks for the encouragement.

We have one hen that is Easter Egger crossed with a BB Red OEG, she lays a white egg. This hen was crossed with a black Giant rooster and her daughter out of this mating lays a brown egg, Chicken genetics are fun and trying to figure things out makes my head hurt. LOL

Hi all, Dakota is still in the hospital and they are still running multiple test, have found that he has an infection in his throat and did a culture test yesterday, waiting on results from that. He has had a couple of bad days the last few days, they are giving him morphine for pain. We do not know what else to do. He is in Childrens Hospital in OKC in room 8130 for those who may want to stop by. We do appreciate the prayers and friendship shared here. Will update as I can. Lynn
